Adrian looked over the schedule. “We have become busy.” Eleanor smiled. “I prefer to think we have become trusted.” Before he could answer, Nova entered carrying two notebooks. “I hope I am not interrupting.” “Not at all,” Eleanor replied. “We were just discussing the calendar.” Nova laughed softly. “I have been trying not to look at calendars.” Adrian raised an eyebrow. “Because of your speech?” She sighed. “I keep telling myself I am prepared.” “And are you?” “I have rewritten the opening six times.”

Lily's minions were more than excited for this new version of bet. Under a lot of pressure, Lily finally agreed. Anyways, she won't be the one running naked. “Fine. If you get first place, I’ll run around the entire school naked in broad daylight. If you don’t, you’ll do the same.” Thea smirked and nodded. She took the bait. “Deal.” Lily, irritated by Thea’s confidence, turned on her heel and stormed off. The news about the bet spread across the school, far surpassing the other gossips about Thea.

She thought about keeping the people she loved in the open where they could be seen. That was what you did. You kept them on the shelf. She held his hand and she held what was coming and she was not afraid of either of them. The thing about being ready was that it was not the same as being prepared. Preparation was the intellectual project, the research and the thinking and the building of the framework. Readiness was different. Readiness was what you had left after the framework came down. It was the thing in you that remained when all the preparation had been used up

She was ready for the public version. She was more ready than she had been at any point in the past two years. Not ready in the way she had been ready for difficult things before. Not the readiness of someone who had prepared thoroughly. The readiness of someone who had become the right person. There was a difference and she understood the difference and the difference was everything. She picked up the notebook from the shelf. She opened it to the question she had written and not answered. She looked at it for a long time. Then she put it back on the shelf.

Gosh, I have sinned but I don't feel sorry about it. How naughty of me! I was about to walk towards the door when I heard a little noise coming from the kitchen. Someone was opening the refrigerator. I turned around and saw Neal getting something out of it. I know that he is very hungry right now. He hasn't eaten this morning and decided to just lock himself inside the room. He doesn't want to eat with me and it must have been hard for him to get something to consume when I was staying in the living room, watching something.
