"If only I met you earlier… I wouldn't have let you suffer so much…" Gathering my courage, I leaned close and pecked the corner of his lips. "Well, we have the rest of our lives, don't we? Work hard to make me happy, alright?" Overjoyed, he wrapped his arms tightly around me, his voice trembling with excitement. "Deal!"

I was going to expose Kelly's fake suicide attempt. Conrad had always been firm in his belief that Kelly's love for him was pure and flawless. In the past life, Kelly had tricked him into returning to the country, and afterward, he simply sighed. "Kelly just cares too much about me." But in this life, no one was there to clean up his mess. I took a plate and served myself food, chomping on the cooked vegetables before I had made it to the table. I wasn't alone, the others who had sat to join talking, and spreading information about. Some talk was boring, like how they were going to see what crops they could grow on the land that Mason once owned. Others was more of gossip; how the Unseelie King had made an appearance somewhere in the south of Ovylian. The news made me feel on edge, and I took small bites of my food, Quill patting my head. "It's okay. None of it is real." he assured me, and I looked at him, wanting to believe him.

Anthony had come back to life too. He confessed, "In our previous life, I didn't marry you, it was Holly. Your parents claimed she was my savior, but I just couldn't warm up to her. That's why, when the time came to move on, I asked to be sent to the coldest, most remote outpost, hoping to get away from her. Sure enough, she couldn't stand the bleakness of the frontier and hightailed it back to Riverton in no time.

Etta asked, fearful of what she might hear next. "No. My aunt and uncle on my fathers side live with another pack across country and my mothers brother was also killed during the rebellion. Once Beta James became Alpha he took me in. He was my fathers most trusted advisor and friend, I had no reason to doubt that he would care for me." Annalise closed her eyes as she thought back to her childhood.

I feel for a few short seconds like a normal person with a normal life. For as long as I can remember it has always been mom and me. Dad abandoned us when they discovered my illness, he ran away like a coward, I guess he felt too much pressure to stay with us and be of great support and made the best decision for his convenience, he thought only of himself, he decided from his selfishness and did not care about leaving us to our fate, so if he ever wants to contact mom or me I will not even want to listen to him. I have nothing to talk to that man about.

“But isn’t it crazy that our lives could fit into one book?” I looked at him with a profound smile. “Oh my God! That has to be the most accurate thing I’ve heard today. Everything we’ve experienced, all in one book. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Now I feel so inadequate. What qualifies me to even tell the story of both our lives?” Jared only smiled wider. “To the bold belongs the fortune.” I looked at him with a curious smile. “Where did that come from?”

That deception had consequences—a pregnancy, a scandal, a complicated journey to love. But it also brought me Noah. Emma. Grace. And soon, Hope. She was much more braver when she told me her story though, unlike her daughter. I took another deep breath and looked at the fire the whole remaining time I resumed with the story. It was the only way I could speak about this without pausing every five seconds to pick up the shards of my breaking heart. I didn’t care if it made him feel like I was avoiding his gaze because I was lying with another cover up story. It was just the only way I could talk about it. I told him everything, without skipping any details. I told him about the rape, the escape, the fake father on paper, how normal and simple our life was in Seattle, and how it was all going perfectly… until it wasn’t.
