I was looking for him, but I was not the only one. A presence shifted behind me. I did not turn immediately. There was no need. “You think too loudly,” a familiar voice said. I exhaled slowly. “You always appear where you are not welcome.” Alastor stepped into view with his usual calm, the kind that came from knowing most people could not touch him even if they tried. Apostle of Ra. Exiled on paper, tolerated in practice. “That is an interesting complaint,” he replied. “Coming from a man who treats contracts like loose guidelines.”

Got to my car and unlocked the door, started the engine, drove to the gate but it was locked and the warriors outside kept staring at the car like I was a stranger leaving without permission. I called out to the warrior to ask why they weren't opening the gate. "The Alpha asked us not to let you out sir," he said.

He frowns when he sniffs the wine for the second time. “There's nothing wrong with the wine. The steak seems perfectly normal to me." He says. The ambulance arrives and they carry me through the back door of the pack house. I close my eyes in embarrassment of been carried around. How can the world's strongest Alpha be reduced to this? He was practically a koala–a six foot tall koala–as he all but threw himself on her, legs sprawled uselessly on the ground and all of his weight bearing down on her. She gave him her driest, blankest stare, eyes boring holes down at his stupidly smiling face, “Happy now?” Alastor simply hummed, nuzzling her stomach contentedly, a strange vibrating sort of noise coming from his chest… and forget the comparison about a koala or the fact that he is technically a wolf, he reminded her of a giant

If it weren't for my seatbelt, I would have been thrown out of the vehicle. My heart thrashed in my chest in a wild rhythm that echoed in my ears. Ryker growled low in warning, but Alastair only grinned. “You’re the one who killed my advisor, aren’t you?” he asked, directing his gaze toward Ryker. “I should be angry about that. But honestly?
