They collapsed, tangled, laughing softly in the afterglow.
That’s when the doorbell rang.
Sharp. Insistent.
Jax froze. “Shit.”
Mara sat up, sheet clutched to her chest. “Who...”
He was already pulling on boxers, heading to the door. “Stay here.”
She didn’t. Curiosity and a flicker of something possessive made her follow, she was naked, silent, peeking around the corner.
Jax opened the door a crack. A woman stood there, blonde, pretty, eyes red like she’d been crying. Tight dress, heels, looking like she’d come straight from a bar.
