Red Hair Shanks Novels & Stories

No, this was punishment, and this time, she was going to have it. “Come on,” I said, stepping forward and grabbing her by her stupid little pigtails, that she liked to do her fake black hair into. She was a natural redhead, a little darker than myself, but she would dye her hair black, because she thought it was cooler. Like that tattoo on her arm, like her whole attitude.

It was Sharon, Mr Asford’s publicist. I could see her through the gap—that unmistakable red hair. And no, not ginger but scarlet red hair, pulled into a lethal updo, blue long-sleeved silk blouse and black pencil skirt. Then I saw them: leopard-print red bottoms. What is it with today? I thought, my brain doing a weary somersault. Is there an animal-print convention I missed? First was Daphne's crocodile skirt, now this. They're all out to make me have a mental breakdown, one predator-pattern at a time.

Her eyes almost fell out of their sockets, Ruth was getting serious. "He's so unreal, Ruth. He was so handsome, I was mesmerized by him. And he had pale white skin, just like yours." Shada explained while pointing at Ruth's arm that was being crossed, then continued. "His hair was pitch black. And her eyes, uh, now they look like yours!" Shada almost choked at the end of her own sentence. Ruth was equally shocked. Yes, that's right, Shada had just remembered that her best friend's eyes were often black and sometimes bright. Like bronze. "Are you sure his eyes are like mine?" Ruth blinked her eyes quickly. Trying to convince herself of Shada's statement.

Chelsea River stood with a confident grace, their bright red hair cascading down their back like a fiery waterfall. The vibrant locks were untamed, with subtle waves and loose curls framing their pear-shaped face. Their eyes sparkled like shimmering aquamarine gemstones, radiating warmth and kindness.

March 1965] My hands are sweaty as I hold onto my best friend Emmy. I’m glad I just got my hair styled with that new relaxer, the cut neatly curled into a chin-length bob. When people see me, my red hair is always a shock. Nobody expects a colored girl like me with skin the deep shade of chocolate to have bright red hair and green eyes. “Too pretty for a girl like you,” is what most of them say.

She grinned at me. Her tone instantly made me warm up to her, which was a rarity. I never warmed up to anyone. Maybe it was because all my life, the people who approached me always did so with an intent to treat me like shit. I looked at her hair and back at her face. “Does your name have anything to do with your hair?” It was the same colour shade as a rose, soft pinkish red—A hair colour shade I’d never seen before, too. I usually only saw redheads with the same color as a carrot, not actual red.

The woman that stares back at me is different from the one that came here. To begin with, her hair is no longer the raven black it had always been. Now it’s a dark gemstone red. It’s not ruby red because I promised Mor I would kill her in her sleep if she made my hair ruby red out of spite. I was fully prepared to cut it if she did me like that. But to her credit, she didn’t. She gave me a red bordering on such black that if I stand in a shadow, my hair looks black, but when I step into the light, the red bleeds through..

It lay there now in useless piles. Xena’s hands worked fast. When she finished, she handed me the scissors and sat down. I stood. My hands shook only a little as I cut her long blonde hair, and she didn’t flinch once. Then the dye. She mixed the ginger red for me, and the smell didn’t fail to burn my nose. She worked it through what remained of my hair. Raven Moonshadow was officially dead. For Xena’s turn, we settled for a dye that turned her blonde hair brunette. It was perfect for blending into crowds.

This woman loves color pink so much.

Her blond hair transformed into blond vines with thrones sticking out. “Shirley? You’re a…… dryard?” Sam asked. “Yes” Shirley answered as her eyes turned blood red and the Styng symbol glow violet on her forehead. Shirley lifter her hand, sprouting silver talons from her fingertips. “I’m sorry, Boys. But I don’t take joy in what comes next.”
