He doesn’t take his hat off and put it on the rack. He’s not wearing a hat. His head is bare and his thick dark curls are damp from rain. I'm sure I could find my way back home if I tried. I freeze when I hear shuffling behind me. My pulse begins pounding in my ears, overpowering the sound of the rain.
