I thought about my train ticket and knew, without doubt, that I had made the right choice. As the party wound down, I reached for my wallet to pay the bill. There was a small scar near his lip, pale against olive skin, and his jaw was shadowed with stubble, like he hadn’t slept properly in days. His eyes— I had never seen eyes like that. Cold. Sharp.
