Chapter 2 His built was quite similar, though slightly bigger than the guard who was keeping an eye on us. His face was rough and sharp with a sleek jaw. He had a high slim nose and I could see the glow from his eyes before he even stood in front of us properly. “Sick contacts dude.” Torin whispered. He was right, they weren’t any ordinary contact lenses, these ones seemed to glow a yellowish golden color. I wasn’t prescribed glasses so I never really considered contacts but even I have to admit that the glow looked pretty cool. At the same time though, it made his face look inhuman and strange. Similar to when a cosplayer wears snake skin and snake contact lenses.

“You aren’t concentrating. Do you need a time out?” His voice was so smooth like butter, they were close to what Ken’s voice sounded like, but was slightly deeper and the English accent was on another level. I nodded and he smiled. “Ok, fasten your seatbelt.” His eyes were a bit strange though, they were ebony, but looked like it had tiny specs of red. Like it was about turning mahogany. Those contact lenses were cool.

Every woman was well-dressed and delicate in his social circle. When he first saw her face, he was a little stunned, but then... he was really amused. Of course, he was not laughing at her. Well... he just thought it was quite funny. This woman put on such strange makeup. Her lips were bright red and she put on too much eye-shadow. There seemed to be two dark eye circles on her face. Moreover, she wore a pair of black-framed glasses, and her bangs were long... She looked a little weird. Ahem! He didn't know what was wrong with him, but he just wanted to see her face without makeup.

There was a small scar near his lip, pale against olive skin, and his jaw was shadowed with stubble, like he hadn’t slept properly in days. His eyes— I had never seen eyes like that. Cold. Sharp. A dark, flat brown that somehow managed to look like polished glass over something feral. They were scanning the crowd, emotionless, until they landed on me. They stopped. I felt the weight of his gaze like fingers around my throat. Not squeezing. Not yet. Just measuring how hard he might need to. “What the hell is this place?” one of the men muttered behind him. “A nest of lunatics,” another said. “Look at the robes. Looks like a damn sacrifice party.”

“The design is flawless, Myriam. The reinforced glass you selected is top-tier, silver-laced, and energy-efficient. They’re built to withstand a full-scale pack assault, as you requested. Why are you suddenly trying to change the specs?” “I wanted black obsidian frames.” “No. You demanded white marble frames, which we confirmed four times during the blueprints. The obsidian will look like a funeral pyre against this stone.” “But I want the black.” “We’ve already forged the white. We’ve installed the white. You want my crew to rip out the entire security perimeter?” “Yes.” She reached out, her fingers grazing his bicep. “And I don't expect to be billed for the 'misunderstanding.'”

I certainly didn’t, until I met the elusive and reclusive Damien Silverburn. Immediately upon meeting him, I noticed his eyes, the color of fire flickering against the night sky. Any time I had seen him online, his eyes had been brown. One of my jobs, I soon learned, would be to make sure there was a copious and constant supply of brown contact lenses to cover the red. Humans didn’t respond well to red eyes, but the composition of wolf person eyes dissolved the lenses quickly. It was important that there was always more than enough in stock.

I am wearing a color champagne body-hugging mermaid evening long dress with a thin strap, paired with black single strap heels, which I am not used to wearing. My back is not covered with any fabric. Maybe I'll ask for a shawl later in case the night gets cold. And from my dress, I moved my gaze to the accessories Nereza gave me. The way they stare into the eyes of each other is something you can not break. Even without words, I can see their love and compassion toward each other.

I’ll hold on to that feeling when I show her what a pack should look like. Gliding my sharp orange eyes to the luxurious sunglasses on my table, I picked it by the temples, swirling it around my fingers before sliding it on my face. Custom-made, the blinding glow of my eyes can’t penetrate through these, and the diamonds encrusted on the edges were distracting enough.

Kai smirks, “I think so. They’re only eyes, they can’t be that bad, can they?” Ash leans forward a little, and nods. She purses her lips and reaches for the glasses, pulling them down slowly. Her eyes are a vibrant dark-green which makes Kai think of malachite stones he’d seen with the darker lines radiating out from the centre. But that wasn’t the truly astonishing thing about her eyes. The ring around her pupils, with thin lines radiating out towards the edge of the iris, is bright orange. But the orange was glowing softly.

"What do you think?" Before work he always dressed perfectly. His nearsightedness wasn't bad, but he still wore gold-rim glasses that sharpened his features. Behind the thin lenses, his dark pupils looked colder than daylight. I scoffed.
