Silas met him mid-air, the clash of obsidian against silver sparks lighting up the clearing like a strobe light.
"Don't kill him!" I screamed, my voice breaking. "Silas, he’s still in there!"
"He’s a vessel for the waste, Elara!" Silas shouted back, straining as he held off the creature's silver claws.
But the "Hollows" were too many. For every one Silas knocked back, three more emerged from the ruins. Then, the fog at the edge of the city was torn apart by a roar of diesel engines.
