Chapter 141: The Red Valve Crisis The world dissolved into screaming iron and blinding crimson light. Lord Trevor’s maniacal laughter echoed off the vaulted stone arches of the refining cathedral. His hand still gripped the massive primary red valve-lever, holding it pinned to the floor. Deep within the subterranean machinery, ancient gears groaned. "Boiling alchemical fire will purge this city of your filth, Natalia!" Trevor roared, his Lycan fangs elongating as his face twisted into a monstrous snout. "The northern plains will burn, and your pathetic rebellion dies tonight!"

Stripes. Burning across my body like fire. The air itself seemed to change. The wolves hesitated. Just for a second. That was their mistake. I moved. Faster than before. Stronger. Unstoppable. I tore through them. No hesitation now. No strategy. Just dominance. One after another. They fell. Until only one remained. Celdor stepped forward. Finally. I tilted my head slightly, blood dripping from my jaw. “You should have stayed hidden.” He didn’t respond.

But by then, I had already let go of everything. My form had gone completely transparent, ready for the next chapter. Ahead of me lay a path bright and open. My passion would never fade, my devotion would outlive even after my final breath.

He set the untouched drink aside and reached for his coat. Fire had rules. Fire did not look back. Fire did not involve itself in accidents or strangers. I stare at it, heart racing in my ribs. I flick the flame and press it to my arm. I hold back my scream as it keeps burning me. This is what happens when I can’t stop thinking about ‘her’ I have to hurt myself until I can stop.

I skimmed the text, my eyes darting from line to line, trying to make sense of it. *Project Inferno— Weaponization of Wildfires.* My breath caught in my throat. Weaponization? what the actual hell...? I flipped through the pages, my pulse quickening as the details unfolded before me.

Moving images of fire, past and present—battles, births, the old kings, the vanished queens, and the child walking barefoot through the ruins of a burning world. Ceres whispered, "It's calling her." Maera nodded. "Or she's calling it." Xavier took a step forward. "And what happens if she answers?" Before anyone could respond, the flame altar convulsed—once, then again, bursting into a flare of white-gold fire. The heat did not burn, but it was summoned.

Cassian POV The firefighters were able to put out the fire in the library before it burned down the entire building, but between the flames, the smoke, and the water used to put it out, we lost three-quarters of the books. The head librarian, Marianne, was barely able to hold back her tears at the town meeting when we heard the reports. “We weren’t able to find any source for the fire,” our Fire Chief, Taylor, finished, folding his arms. “No accelerants were found, but the way it spread couldn’t have been natural, either.”

As I watched the flames flicker, I felt a strange calm wash over me. Suddenly, the door burst open, and Sandra rushed in, wide-eyed with shock. Ignoring the searing heat, she lunged forward and snatched the burning photos with her bare hands. She beat at them frantically to smother the flames. Anxious, she demanded, "Why are you burning these things?" Sandra finally managed to put out the flames, but her hands were blistered from the heat. Her eyes filled with tears as she glared at me. "Fred, do you remember what these things meant to us? How could you burn them? I sent them to you because I thought…"

“What does it say?” I exhaled, steadying myself. Then I read the words aloud. "The path to reforging light begins with fire, tempered by will, and sealed by sacrifice." Xander’s expression hardened. “Then we have our next step.” I nodded, gripping the book tightly. The forge had given us our answers. Now, it was time to bring it back to life.
