She pressed her lips to his, forcing the fire down his throat, into his lungs, into his dead heart. The abyss howled.
Shadows surged, creatures crawling closer, shrieking as her light cut them. The ground beneath them pulsed like a living thing, veins of black fire spiderwebbing outward.
