For the first time in over a week, I feel normal. Not physically. Physically I still feel exhausted. But mentally. Emotionally. I feel normal. My friends are bickering. The familiar theme song of the show began to play before I even settled against the pillows. I smiled before I could stop myself. “FRIENDS” always did that to me. No matter how heavy the day had been, no matter how much the world felt like it was pushing in on all sides, those six chaotic characters reminded me that life didn’t always have to be a battle. It could be ridiculous, stupid, comforting and equally safe. And tonight, that was all I needed. I curled my legs beneath the blanket and let my body sink deeper into the mattress as the first episode started rolling. The familiar laugh track echoed around the room, and I could almost feel my mind slowly unclench, thought by thought.
