I walked to the room to change just as my phone rang getting me to pick it up and find an unknown number calling. With a shrug I answered. “Hello.” “Did you have a good night?” the voice said as I immediately got scared. Whoever it was had used a voice changer and as such I could not tell if it was a male or a female talking. “Who is this?” I asked with my heart pounding against my chest. “I hope you had a good night. I have been watching you all night and I know everything you’ve been doing.” I refused to believe all these pranks being set by people these days. I had seen it all on YouTube. I was not going to fall for it.

I took out my phone with fake eagerness and dialed the number, praying it would go to a recording so I could be done with this. The phone rang once, twice, three times... and then a voice said: "The number you have dialed is not in service. Please check the number and try again." I tried to hide my relief as I turned to my mother with a disappointed look. "Mom, the number does not work," I said, putting frustration in my voice. "This Gabriel was supposed to call me, and he did not. Now when I try, his phone is not even connected. What kind of serious man has a phone number that does not work?"

I tried calling again but the phone was switched off. I tried to recall if the voice sounded familiar for a few minutes, but it wasn’t. “It’s probably just a stupid prank call.” I shrugged, refilling the glass of orange juice I had placed on the table at the center of the three large grey sofas, opposite his main leather chairs behind the mahogany table. Taking a gulp of the juice, the door was pushed open at the exact time my phone rang again. I answered the call grouchily, feeling frustrated by Tristan just returning after such a long time and the probability of it being another stupid prank call. “Hello?”

I opened my phone when a message came in from a private number, "Xavier's mom will meet someone tomorrow at Reign Mall at 3:40 pm, make sure to be there on time and that will be your first clue." Was this some sort of prank? How is it even possible? I dialed a friend's number who worked in the airport and she picked up the fourth ring. "Hey Skylar, can you please do me a favor?" I asked over the phone. "What favor Madi, anything for you, "Skylar's sweet voice said through her phone. "I would like to check Mrs. Anita Williams' travel history in and out of the country," I asked, Skylar sighed over the phone.

The desire to hear his voice was overwhelming, and she regretted not keeping her phone nearby. Sophie had barely settled on the living room sofa when her phone rang again, filling her heart with hope once more. Unfortunately, it was Sharon's photo on the caller ID, indicating that it was her friend trying to reach her, not Nicholas. At first, she didn't answer, but she decided to pick up, worried, when Sharon called for the seventh time because that wasn't like her. "Sophie Parker..." Sharon practically shouted, not even letting Sophie finish saying "hello." "You NEED... I'm telling you, you NEED to turn on your TV to GHShow right NOW! This isn't just a pink code, it's a whole rainbow!"

********** When the phone started ringing for the second time Skyler decided to abandon his shower and answer it. Might be important he reasoned walking out of the shower with his body dripping wet. " Hello, " he picked up. A frown appeared on his face when he got no response. He hadn't checked the caller's ID before he picked up the call so he has no idea who was calling. Was this a prank call? The thought didn't please him at all as the two frown lines on his forehead deepened. " Hello, " he tried a second time. When he got a silent treatment he decided to hang up damning himself for wasting his time on something that was obviously a prank call.

Goose pimples broke out on my skin and I became suddenly scared. "Oga, abeg dem don kidnap madam, make you try come save am. Them go kill am, make you hurry." (Sir, your mother has been kidnapped. They want to kill her, hurry). And the line went dead. Wait, what? Did I just hear correctly? I called the number again, but it was switched off. Is this some kind of sick joke? Who the hell would want to play a prank on me this way? I called mother's number again with shaky hands --- over and over again, but this time, I kept getting the same response; switched off!

It may be a blessing ni disguise that I can actually make a revenge on those very mean people. Just as I was thinking of those people, my phone suddenly rang. I got the phone out of my bag thinking it must be Provi. However, I noticed it was an unregistered number. I don;t usually like talking to strangers and I don't like this kind of prank from my friends. I pressed the END CALL button. After placing the phone on the table top, it rang again. At the back of my mind, if this person thinks that it's important, he or she should send me a message. Beeeep. Pick up the good da** call!

“Mr. Crawford, you should have received the present I sent you!” When Gerald heard his voice, he frowned. “Who are you?” Gerald asked the man on the other end of the phone. “Hehe, don’t be so nervous.! I’m just a nobody who wants to play a game with you!” The man laughed wickedly and said to Gerald without telling Gerald his identity. “Play a game? Hmph, I have no time to play with you. If you are trying to play a prank, sorry, you have the wrong person!” Gerald snorted coldly when he heard what the man had said.

What if this is the stupidest thing I've ever done? Beverly dialed before she could talk herself out of it. The phone rang once. Twice. Three times. "Hello?" A man's voice, groggy with sleep. "Do you have any idea what time it is?" Beverly's throat closed. She couldn't speak. Couldn't make sound. Could only hold the phone against her ear and pray he understood. "Hello? If this is a prank—" She tapped the phone. Rhythmic. Deliberate. The pattern she'd practiced: three short, three long, three short.
