Chapter 1- Destiny and Providence

Her POV

March 2010

"Des, this is not for you! You have to get out of here."

"Dad, I chose this. Please let go of my hand and just leave."

We were in the middle of the courtyard of the Apostolic Work Convent. I had been here for five days already and suddenly my father shows up to bring me home.

"Please... Don't do this... You are my only daughter."

"Precisely Dad. I am your only daughter I am afraid karma would strike me for all the mess you've made. "

"Not all guys are like me Des. I really love your Mom.. It's just that I get tempted at times."

"No Dad. You are wired that way. Men are wired that they use some other head other than that placed on top of your neck!" I can't control my temper anymore. I was screaming at the top of my voice and the Mother Superior came out to speak to us.

"Sir ... Please allow your daughter some time to think things over. Maybe you should do too. Anyway, after a month or two, she may leave at her own will. This is just a search-in for the actual vocation."

Mother Superior had some gentleness in her voice at the same time it demands respect and obedience. My dad left with his head bowed low, a sign of defeat. However, for me it was a success. Boy was I glad Mother Superior came around.

Ohhh, so I am Destiny Valle, Des for short. I just graduated from highschool and came to this place right after graduation to my father's dismay instead of preparing for medical school. I have looked up to my dad since I was a kid. He was a hardworking man. From a mere security guard, he was able to work his way up to the administrative seat. When the company was laying off employees, he volunteered and got enough separation pay to set up his own company with more than 500 employees. Everything was going well until suddenly all the funds seem to get depleted. There wasn't enough budget left even for the household. It was then he got caught by my Mom to be cheating on her.

It was a big blow for my Mom because several times he had promised to end the relationship but only for her to find out after a few months that the mistress was transferred to another house only. I was tired seeing their relationship fall apart. And that is why, here I am in a convent trying to have some peace of mind and saving myself from possible heartaches in the future. I don't believe in fairytales anymore. For lovers, it's only once upon a time they were happy, then they end. So here is my story.

His POV

"Leave the children Provi! If you want to leave this house, do not take the children with you." My wife was screaming and tearful while chasing after me as I entered the room of the kids with a big luggage bag.

"You don't deserve our children Marga." I said calmly as I got the kids' clothes and stuffed them into the bag.

"I am sorry. It wasn't meant to happen!" she was trying to explain  but I would not want to hear any of it. Not anymore. She had broken my trust and once was enough.

"Please..." She sat on the bed pleading and sobbing. I finished packing the clothes and continued to put toys, bags, and shoes in  another bag. I brought the kids' belongings to our room and got my belongings as well. I checked on my bag to make sure all the plane tickets were there.

The doorbell sounded which stopped her sobbing. She wiped her face with her dress and went out to check it. When I was done packing everything, I went down to see my wife talking with her brother.

"Provi... " He started but I interrupted him before he could proceed.

"Do not stop me." I looked him sternly in the eyes. "Take care of your sister instead and make sure her soul will not end up in hell." I said as I pass them at the living room.

"Cheska, Francine, Alex..." I called the children who were having snacks at the kitchen. Their eyes widened at the sight of the big bags. Cheska was 12 years old, Francine was 10 years old and Alexis only 7 years old.

"We are going for vacation. Kiss your mother goodbye." I said to them flatly.

Marga started crying again but louder this time. Cheska the eldest of the three tried to comfort her, stroking her hair.

"Your mama cannot go with us. She has work here. But grandmother needs us back home." I lied. I seldom do but it is always for the good of everyone.

"it's okay Mama. You can come and visit us when your work is done, right Papa?" It was Francine.

I gave a nod but tried to maintain a stern face. Alex ran to me and asked, "So are we riding an airplane? "

"Yes we are little boy." I said smirking at him and messing up his hair.

The sound of horns from the taxi signaled that we were all about to have a major change in our lives.

I am Attorney Providence Dalton. Provi to my my closest friends.. Atty. Pro to my colleagues… This is my story.
