Sometimes, if a one already has a chosen mate, and they do not want to ruin what they have with that chosen mate, they will reject the fated mate. Rejecting the fated mate gives the rejected a chance to find a second chance mate, which is rare to find, but it does happen. The bond between the first rejected mate and a second chance mate is as strong, if not stronger than the bond with their first chance mate. The lasting effects on the rejected mate is usually emotional more than anything.
