“My legs are failing, I need to lie down. Let’s just say that lying on them is as bad an idea as pulling them out completely.” I swallowed hard, then gripped the shafts still jutting from his back. Using the strength of my beast, I snapped them cleanly. The next instant his legs gave way, and he dropped, falling on his back. “No, Revandrel.” I knelt beside him at once, frantic. “Listen to me. Can you hear me? Keep your eyes open.” They fluttered, sluggish. “Iron shards,” he murmured, voice fading. “Dragonblood. Snakebone. All potent… all the powerful poisons…” A shallow breath. “Godsdamn nuisance, that this had to happen on such a fucking futile trip.”

Rex's lungs burned as he sprinted through the crumbling tunnel, dust filling the air with each new tremor that rocked the passageway. The golden lizard bracelet pulsed against his wrist, sending waves of warmth up his arm—a warning, perhaps, or Fafnir urging him forward.

the man growled, now eyeing both Minet and Lacey eagerly. It had been a quiet few hours for Lizz, she had just put down her second book on ‘Beasts of Dracoterrum’, she was trying to research anything she could on the tentaculum to see what odds Raz and Rex faced in their battle and any possible weaknesses in case they did turn back. “Wood must be running out, feels cold in here” she mumbled to herself, feeling a slight chill over her body. Standing up and walking over to the fireplace, she was a little shocked to see it still burning strong, ‘That’s weird, why is it so cold in here?’

But inside, there was only silence. I needed to think, needed to sort through the mess that was my life. There was no room for distractions, no time for mistakes. My vendetta against the DeLucas had been my focus for months, and I couldn’t afford to let anything get in the way. But Nico had a way of making everything else fade into the background, of making me forget why I was doing this in the first place.

This is it. Stepping further inside, my fingers traced the spines of books as I scanned the titles, searching for anything related to priestesses. After a few minutes, I found a section labeled Sacred Lineages and pulled out the first book that caught my eye. I was just about to settle into one of the chairs when the door creaked open. I turned, expecting maybe Brandon or Alpha Rhett—because, apparently, he had a habit of appearing whenever I least expected it—but instead, it was Ares.

Above, the sky remained absent, a void of swirling nothingness. And in the center of it all, suspended like a frozen ember, was the Hollow Crown. It no longer flickered, no longer wavered between existence and absence. It had settled. It had chosen. A pulse rippled outward. Rael staggered, the book searing against his palms. The ink within twisted violently, reforming into a single phrase: THE CROWN WAITS FOR ITS BEARER. His breath hitched. He looked up at the others, dread curling in his stomach. “It’s not over.”

"The were-dragons will be here soon." A surge of relief washed over me, drowning out the pain and fear, as the boys finally retreated, hastily adjusting their disheveled appearances. I allowed myself a fleeting moment of solace—I was free, if only for today—before the next chapter of my harrowing journey began. But not before Diana took the opportunity to kick me hard in the head with her boot, plunging me into darkness.

The sweat beaded on his corded neck, pooling in the well of his collarbone. My fingers went to pinch his pink nipples, twisting them hard between my thumb and forefinger. His hips lost their tempo for a second and he grunted, a wash of goosebumps forming along his broad shoulders. The blue ink of his dragon undilated violently, emerging and encasing us in its ethereal light. Thane's hand found my throat, and we both couldn't get enough of each other. Each thrust sent us into a delirious high. The light grew brighter and brighter.

Will these 2 people ever come across each other, will that wall of ice ever melt with the warmness of kindness, will the man with too much hatred and too little love ever claim his possession, on the women with too little hatred and so much of love?
