Lisa smiled brightly when she got the order from the control room, "Implement plan burn and destroy." The troops below her all screamed in excitement, the sky lip up as mana weapons got pulled out of their sheaths and activated in a glow of mana. The roars and squeals of remnant spirits matched those of the energy beast horde. A massive slaughter took place as a horde of Thorium Relm remnant spirits rampaged in a horde of platinum and gold ranks. Lisa and her raid team stood in the air above the battlefield, watching with wide eyes for any changes.

“From our lord and Emperor Caesar Randall Tiberius, Supreme Leader of Remas and Recipient of the People’s Senate. ‘I hereby Declare a State of the War in the Remanian Empire. Our War with Persiais over, but we face another foe. A massive rebel force that seeks to raise anarchy, death and to ensure Destruction of all that we have fought for. They have assaulted the cities of Londana, Stantum, Barcelos, New Capua, Rendra and the Capital herself. They have slaughtered many good Remanian citizens and are robbing us of our hard earned peace. My dead arm dragged behind me—a senseless slab of necrotic ruin. “I know,” I whispered. The words tasted like copper rust. “But they’re not taking you. Not today.” Ryan’s voice cut through the static—low, cracked, almost pleading. “Phoenix… the loyal faction just went live. They’re countering the remnant broadcast. It’s splitting the feed in real time.” The slate flared brighter. Two faces appeared side by side—loyal Alpha on the left, calm, reverent; remnant Alpha on the right, eyes burning.

A presence stirred on it. A being with no face, only a hollow where a mouth should be. But when it moved, it spoke directly to her thoughts. “You were not meant to return here, Seedbearer.” Emily fell to her knees. “Who—what are you?” she managed to whisper. “I am the Remnant. That which was left behind when the Tree fell… when the Sky fled… when Varethkaal was first named.” She remembered that name. Varethkaal. The hunger given shape. The godling of void. The fracture beneath the fracture.

"She's what?" I demanded, staring at Lady Amara. My knees ached from kneeling on the stone courtyard. "What does this mark mean?" Lady Amara looked at Prince Louis like she was asking permission to speak. "Tell her," he said. She turned back to me. "The Mark of the Warrior Moon. It hasn't been seen in this kingdom for over a hundred years. It marks the women of the old royal bloodline. The House of Rashad." My stomach dropped. "That's impossible. I'm not royal. My mother was just a seamstress."

An unmarked envelope slid under the academy door at sunrise, its contents shaking the calm they had fought so hard to build. Dane opened it fast and scanned the pages. "Ezra, you need to see this right now. Old notes from the very first enemy. He hid one last experiment group." Ezra read beside him, eyes sharp. "Back at Shadowpeak and the past bites again. We start the new program today anyway. Help wolves who struggle with shifts. Then we handle this surprise together."

Rowan said slowly, “that whatever sealed power you broke to end Lucian’s curse may have left something behind. A remnant, perhaps. Something that now walks free.” Lyra’s pulse skipped. The word “remnant” struck deep, a shadow from every nightmare she’d had since the war. The nights she woke cold, certain she’d heard whispers that didn’t belong to her. “I would’ve sensed it,” she argued, but her voice lacked the conviction she wanted. Helene tilted her head. “Would you? Or has your connection to it weakened over time?” The air in the chamber thickened. Lyra’s hands pressed flat against the table, grounding herself.

CHAPTER 29: THE KING'S PRACTICE. BARAKAR'S POV. Lying in bed, I stared at the ceiling. Whoever it was that made the artistic drawings on the ceiling did quite an amazing and elaborate job. The whole ceiling of my chamber was covered with historical drawings of past wars, depicting the conquest of the werewolf kind over the lands before they were brought under the leadership of the Iron Claw Pack, centuries ago. It never tired me to stare at them whenever I lay in bed.

Mj’s body flew upward onto the back of the massive creature, but her hold did not give and as she screamed one last time she could feel Theron’s power pumping through her until finally the half shifted head of the Nerezza Alpha popped clean off her shoulders and rolled away before her body folded to the ground.
