“I want the return to have my face on it.” The corridor outside was quiet. A couple of staff glanced up and looked down again. Scott waited by the reception desk with the courier, a young, gray-uniformed man with a scanner in hand, trying not to look curious. Freeda walked up and handed him the white box. “Return to sender.” The courier blinked. “Ma’am, are you sure?” “Yes.” He adjusted the box against his arm. “I’ll need confirmation.” Freeda held his gaze. “You have it.”

One of them said politely, and they put down the box on the floor. “Who’s the sender?” He frowned. “I-I’m afraid I don’t know, Sir. There is no name or address from the sender. We also asked the courier but he didn’t know anything either.” She bowed her head. Leo nodded slowly, his hands were on his waist. “Leave it there.” He ordered and they bowed once again before they left. “What joke is this?” Leo murmured looking at the box and his name was on it. He opened it. But it took him some time because it was made from wood.

She asked. "There's no one here… hold on there is a box here."He said picking up the box that was on the doorstep. There was nothing written outside the box, not even an address. He closed the door and he walked into the living room with the box in his hands. "Why did you take it in? What if it's a bomb that will explode as soon as you open the box?"Ember asked. Axle just shook his head. He put the box on the small table that was in front of the couches.

Neon Japanese and English signs flickered violently, reflecting off the wet pavement. The street was empty. No delivery drone. No courier. Ren looked down. Sitting on the sodden welcome mat was a box. It was an anomaly. It was matte black, made of a material that seemed to absorb the neon light rather than reflect it. It was perfectly dry, despite the pouring rain, as if it repelled the water. There was no shipping label, no barcode, and no postage. Just his name, printed in razor-sharp silver foil directly onto the lid:

I lock the door and carry the box inside. Cassie comes out, pulling her sweater over her head. “What’s that?” “No idea,” I say. “I didn’t order anything.” Cassie frowns. “Okay… that’s not weird at all.” I set the box on the table. There’s no label. No return address. Just my name written in thick black marker. Cassie leans against the table. “You gonna open it or just stare at it?” I swallow and rip the tape. Inside is a neatly folded black scarf.

The side compartment where the phone box rested looked slightly opened already. My brows furrowed. I dug through the remaining packing material faster now before eventually turning the entire box upside down. The contents shifted roughly. Then, An envelope slipped out and landed softly onto the table. I froze immediately, Slowly, I reached for it and opened it carefully. Inside was a folded letter. I unfolded it immediately and started reading. ‘This will be the new device where you will receive calls and send footage for orders that you will be given.’ My face tightened slightly.

At that moment, she was like a child who had been given her favorite toy that she had been wishing for so long. Jade sprinted towards the bed, her steps quick and light, her energy and excitement palpable. As she reached the bed, she eagerly picked up the box, her hands barely able to contain the weight of the package. The black box was matte, smooth to the touch, and perfectly square in shape, giving it an air of sophistication and elegance.

A quick, sudden sound that snapped me out of my calm—like a reminder that life had a way of throwing surprises at the most unexpected times. My heart skipped a beat as I paused, mid-step. Who could it be right now? I hesitated, unsure whether I should open immediately or wait. My hand lingered near the door frame as I looked through the peephole, trying to see if I recognized anyone. Outside, a courier stood calmly, holding a plain, unmarked box. The box was small, about the size of a shoebox, wrapped in simple brown packing paper with no labels or tags. He held it steadily, gripping it with both hands, as if it carried something delicate or important.

April asks. I shake my head. “I don’t know. We can take it to Micah and see if he can interpret it.” As soon as we arrive back at Confradia HQ, April takes the box out and analyzes the lock. Micah and Gideon listen to the message, their expressions growing dark. “What does it say?” I ask while April continues to tinker with the box. Micah quirks a brow. “It seems that there’s going to be a new shipment of women delivered to the shop tomorrow.”
