I’ve read several novels like this, but the main character almost always dies in their world. Dread fills me; did I die in my sleep? I didn’t even get to read the last Game of Thrones novel; how could I have died? I’m young and healthy, yeah I’m relatively thick, but a little fat never hurt anyone.

This shocked Ender. "Revi, come back!" Ender and Vida were about to run but the guards stopped them. "Let us go! That kid must not die! We made a promise!" The guards didn't listen and tightened their grip on the two and brought them to the train station.

He looked at the stack of books on my desk, his eyes lingering on a tattered spine I had tucked at the bottom. "Wait, is that THE STAND?" he asked, pointing to the thick paperback. I looked down, my eyes landing on the book he was referring to. It was a survival horror story. Something about an alien invasion and humans getting wiped out one by one. "Oh. Yes. I’ve read it three times, but I find comfort in the end of the world sometimes. It makes my own feel... manageable."

And alas, so it ends. Here we are again, at the end of another adventure. And this was, quite possibly, one of the most difficult endings I've ever written.
