Roy stood still, his thoughts dissipated as he heard the footsteps, but he didn’t want to alert whatever that was following him that he clocked on to the fact that he knows it is here with him. He didn’t descend, not yet at least. He had two goals in mind: one, to discover why he was here, and second, to prove that something was here with him. Instead, he turned to the side aisles. There were doors: tall, arched and sealed. Each one was unique: one was made of bone-white marble, another of rusted iron and the third of translucent crystal that shimmered like a frozen lake. None of the doors had handles; none of the doors had hinges – they were simply there.

The rocking chair stood against the far wall. Silver chains lay across the floor. They were clean now. No blood. No black roots. A circular platform occupied the centre of the room. _Alina's POV_ I ventured deeper into the maze. The path twisted and turned, but I felt more confident now, more in tune with the energy guiding me. Each step brought new challenges, but I was ready for them. As I rounded a corner, I came across the first puzzle. It was a large stone door, covered in intricate symbols and carvings. The door had no handle or obvious way to open it, but I could sense that this was no ordinary door. It required more than just physical strength to pass through.
