“I’m so glad you could make it.” Chloe could only watch as the Alpha male descended the stairs slowly, each movement like a predator stalking its prey. In fact, that was exactly what was happening here. Chloe was the prey and Nathaniel intended to devour her greedily. There was nowhere to run. He produced croaking sounds with an admixture of coughing and snorted contentedly. "No," Leo broke the silence. “I never would have thought that you would chicken out in front of a human girl, Ar.” Once again, he teased him. “Hmmm, you’ll have to do it yourself… You remember the words of the ceremony, don’t you?” Does the phrase “Right of the wolf” suggest an idea? turned to Leela. — Wolves? Wolves…” she glanced at the dog moving impatiently from paw to paw. - Werewolves, right? she exclaimed, but she herself did not believe in the spoken words.

Chloe whispered from a distance as she herself was scared of Verona’s current form and didn’t want to get hurt. “NO!!” Verona screamed. It was clear that she had lost control of herself. She was no longer in her right mind as she was overpowered by her desire for revenge. “GRRR!” They all paused on hearing the loud growl. Verona’s eyes looked blood-thirsty and she seemed to hate that she was being interrupted by some sound like that. “W…what was that?” Chloe said as she tried to move closer to Verona but was stopped by the deadly aura that surrounded her. She knew if she got in between what was happening, Verona was going to hurt her as she was no longer in her senses.

The screams of men, women and children filled the air along with the scent of blood and burning flesh. Growls and grunts filled the air as wolves of all sizes bit, tore and snapped at one another. I lunged at a scar faced black wolf charting towards a woman and her kids. They scream, shutting their eyes as they accept their fate. But I did not. Before the rogue could reach them, my canines reached his next first. Snapping his neck in just one bite, the rogue dropped listlessly to the floor. At the corner of my eye, I could see the woman thanking me but I did not have that time to spare before charging at the next rogue.

The taste of blood grounded me, pulling me back from the edge. She needed me sane. She needed me alive. She needed me to win whatever battle was clawing its way to our doorstep. By the time I reached the eastern balcony, the rage inside me had condensed into a cold, deadly calm. Antonio was already there, leaning lazily against the iron railing as if he hadn’t just spent the entire night hunting down rogues. A cigarette burned between his fingers, its ember glowing like a dying star. The scent of burnt tobacco mixed with the clean pine-laced night air.

He was sure even a whisper would alert the shadow he was looking at in the dark. What it was, he didn’t know. He was sure, though, that it was bent over to a lump, unmoving body of someone. The creature was groaning, but its prey was no longer in the defense. Adjusting to the darkness, it became a challenge not to make a noise when he took in the feature of the monster. It looked just like the ones from the movie he, and others before her, were so fond of binge-watching. “What is happening?” he whispered, tears racing down once again as he slowly moved back.
