Riley arrived ten minutes early, ponytail already perfect, wearing those tiny black shorts that rode up between her cheeks every time she moved and a cropped white tank so thin I could see the dark outline of her areolas through it. She stepped inside the studio, locked eyes with me, and immediately looked down at the floor like she knew what was coming. Her breathing was already quick. Her nipples were poking hard against the fabric before I even said a word. I locked the door. Dimmed the lights just enough that the mirrors still caught every angle but the room felt smaller, more private, more dangerous.

The door was closed behind him. How? How did he come inside? She has locked her room. He didn't even make a single noise. "What's wrong?" His voice was calm and light as if he didn't want Sadie to hear him. The thought alone was stomach churning. "I w..was s...sleeping." She said softly. Without a doubt Riley was scared of the man in the shadows. Her heart was beating fast and Sadie's words kept roaming her head. He was ruthless then why was he kind to her? Perhaps he wants to lure her into committing a sin with him?

Warm amber lights glowed against dark wood walls while soft music drifted through the air beneath the low murmur of conversations. Candles flickered on every table. Objectively, it was far too romantic for a dinner involving someone’s mother. But maybe that was the point. Maybe Riley thought atmosphere could make the lie more convincing. The bell above the entrance chimed softly. I looked up. Riley stepped inside wearing a white shirt tucked into blue jeans and white Converse. Simple. Casual. Still somehow impossible not to notice. Her eyes swept across the room until they landed on me. Relief visibly softened her features before she hurried over.

She couldn't. “I… I can’t—” she choked out. “I can’t leave without Noah. Giovanni has him!” Isla’s face covered with frustration and panic flickering in her eyes. “Damn it, Kat! We can’t—” It was at that moment the bathroom door burst open with a violent slam. Riley stepped out, barefoot, in a sleek coral dress that shimmered beneath the chandelier and wrapped around her body. In her right hand, a pistol glinted. She looked from one to the other while her lips curved into a slow, venomous smile.

A few are on their phones, likely checking the event location, while others toss ideas about which designer cologne to wear like it’s a tactical strategy meeting. That’s when Riley walks in. Riley struts in like she’s late on purpose, all heels and sweet smile, just as two rookies are arguing over pocket square colors. “What’s going on?” she asks, voice annoying as usual, eyes darting around. Flynn doesn’t even glance up from where he’s untying his cleats. Tom does, just briefly, before returning to his phone. I watch Riley scan the room, eyebrows pinched, and the longer she doesn’t spot an envelope in her name, the more her polished demeanor begins to slip.

As I walk back into the mansion, I can’t help but feel a rush of adrenaline. Maybe a drink would be nice to calm my nerves. …. I stroll inside the living room, and Riley’s bright laughter welcomes me. She is sitting on the kitchen counter. Her phone is pressed to her ear and has changed her clothes, wearing a loose black sweater with skin tight leggings. The sweater is too big and slides down her bare shoulder, showing her milky skin. Her lean legs are equally tempting. I wonder how it would look if I prop them above my shoulders. I stalk near her. She glances towards me and cuts the call.

The nurse had left it cracked just enough to see inside. Riley was stirring. Her eyes opened slowly, unfocused, like she was still trying to figure out where she was. She turned her head on the pillow and looked around the empty room. No one was sitting beside her, no one was there to tell her what had happened or who already knew. She looked small and alone. I stayed at the window watching her, my phone in my pocket and the feeling of everything I still didn’t know flooding my mind.

He raised his eyebrows and tried so hard not to smile. "You want me to touch your ass?" he bit his lips to control his smile and I glared at his reaction. He looked like he was having fun, watching me squirm and fluster. "Go away, Tristan. This isn't funny." I pushed him away and was about to walk past him inside his room. He pulled me back by my waist and looked straight into my eyes. "Close your eyes." "No." "Just do it." "No." "Riley!" I remained stubborn and folded my arms in front of my chest.

Charlotte, when she finished listening to Sebastian, noticed that some police sirens were approaching, when she realized this her eyes got bigger than usual, then she took her hand to Sebastian's mouth and with a lot of force she pushed him to the corner of the entrance without saying anything until the police sirens stopped.

Kingston I didn’t knock. The pull toward her was so intense that I knew she was behind the door without having to ask or check who was inside. The motel door was thin enough that I could hear the soft shuffle of feet from within, the low murmur of a television, and the sound of a child laughing. Riley. He was alive, as I had suspected. He was okay. I braced a hand on the doorframe as my lungs struggled to expand, as if they’d been frozen until this moment.
