Scene 2: Opposition and Acceptance A younger Alpha stepped forward, his fur bristling with defiance. “And when the Shadow God strikes? When Lyra returns, will she have her army? Who decides which of us is sacrificed?” “We all stand together,” Aiden said, his voice like thunder. “No one is sacrificed. We defend every wolf as if they were blood.” Iris added, “If we fail, we fail as one. If we triumph, we triumph as one.” A hush fell over the gathering. Slowly, one by one, wolves began stepping forward. They bared their throats to Iris and Aiden—a gesture of submission not to rulers, but to unity.

I could feel it pressing against me through the connection we now shared. I raised my chin higher in defiance. My wolf whimpered inside me, ready to submit to our mate willingly. But the Alpha King was about to find out that Rosalie Summers does not submit to anyone, who does not earn her respect first.

The rogue wolf skidded to a halt, turning to face me with a snarl, followed closely by four more wolves who charged at me with menacing growls. Without hesitation, I bared my canines and launched into action, delivering powerful kicks and punches, my fury propelling me. For a brief moment, the primal rage of my wolf took over, pushing me into a fierce battle with the attackers. When I briefly regained control, I saw all five wolves sprawled on the ground, battered and bruised, unable to move. With the immediate threat subdued, I sprinted towards Astrid. She lay on the ground, exposed, her skin pale and cold.

Breaking the surface completely naked I panted. “My name is Ashina and I'm your wolf. I'm sorry for taking so long to speak with you but know that you're very special and you won't be complete until you are reborn, such a pain in the ass but a necessity for you to realize your true worth,” she stated firmly as I pinched the bridge of my nose with my dripping fingers. Suddenly, a big black wolf growled behind me near the water's edge. When it shifted into a human I balked. It was none other than Ronan and the bastard called me his Mate. He was also coming towards me as he stepped into the lake. I froze, uncertain what I should do…

“Lily, do you have any wishes for the new year?” Perhaps my expression stood out too much in the middle of all the celebration. Daniel suddenly called my name. “I want a raise,” I said. My voice wasn’t loud, but everyone heard it. The room suddenly fell silent. People slowly turned to look at me. The smile on Daniel’s face disappeared. “What did you say?” He walked down from the stage. He tossed the microphone aside, and it let out a sharp screech. “Say it again.” He stopped in front of me.

More wolves emerged from the woods and encircled us. I opened my eyes. And something inside me shifted. The grief. The guilt. The despair— They burned away. In their place rose something ancient. Primal. My golden eyes ignited. Not faintly. Not flickering. They blazed like twin suns breaking through darkness. The wolves dragging me hesitated. The power wasn’t fear anymore. It was fury sharpened into purpose. I stopped going limp. I planted my paws against the earth. And I rose. Not as prey.

But Rhys was faster. With a sweep of his legs, she hit the ground hard. Pain exploded through her ribs. Kael stepped forward but Aria held up a trembling hand. “Don’t,” she gasped. “Don’t help me.” She forced herself to her feet, blood trickling down her arm. Rhys nodded. “You’ve got Alpha in you.” And for the first time, the pack wolves watching from the shadows bowed their heads in respect. That night, the moon rose full and heavy.

“Rafael… Rafael’s army has arrived.” Killian’s forces tried to regroup, but before they could, another wave of wolves appeared. This time, they came from the south. Leading them was a massive red wolf, its fur blazing like fire under the bright sun. The wolf stood on a rocky outcrop, her stance commanding as she let out a powerful howl. The sound echoed across the battlefield, sharp and clear, like a command. Half of Killian's army froze at that, their movements stopping as if held by invisible chains. She howled again, louder this time, and something incredible happened—the warriors turned toward her. Slowly, they bowed, then, without hesitation, rushed to join her side.

His finger grew sharp claws, but he only used his fingertips to gently stroke the little wolf’s cheek: “Do you agree?” Arista hesitated for a long time, finally grasping the crux of the matter: “Do you want... to replace Levi?” The Resentful Spirit laughed, pulling the little wolf away, then brushed her nose: “You’re indeed sharp-witted. That really makes me fond of you.” Looking at this face, hearing these words, the little wolf still couldn’t adapt. Levi always called her foolish, never praised her for being sharp-witted. The little wolf said, “But you... but you... you’re not really Levi, you’re just separated from him...”

“No more crying. No more running.” I wiped my tears away and focused my eyes in the mirror. My heart was beating like a drum, strong and pulsating. Deep down, I knew it. I felt it. This was my wolf. She was rising for the first time since the fight, her energy fierce and primal. "Get up," her growl whispered in my mind. And I did. I yanked the bandages off, stood up straight, and looked directly into my own eyes. My reflection still appeared tired, but now she was blazing with a different passion – fire, defiance, and rage in her eyes.
