Tyr, the magic book is about to be born. I’m going to find out where the book will be born. You should wait for me here.” With that, Xavion’s body started burning with flames once more, but this time the flames had transformed into a phoenix. He leaped and jumped on the back of the Phoenix.

I answered. "It's Arthur Hill. Phoenix’s dad."

The doorframe was sparkling reddish orange, as though flames could burst out of it at any moment. I couldn’t see through to the other side. It was darkness. But seeing something other than the meadows with sunlight, made my anticipation rise. I sat back down upon the meadows and placed the heavy ancient tome on my lap, taking a deep breath. One last time, I thought. Looking down again at the book, I began to murmur again, filled with a newfound determination. I wasn’t sure how long it took. But for the last time I rose again. “I’m ready.”

The mist in Puncak was not like the mist in Paris. In the French capital, the fog felt like a romantic veil, a soft blur that turned the city into a painting. Here, amidst the charred ruins of the Zea estate, the mist felt like cold breath against the back of Serena’s neck—the exhalation of a mountain that had witnessed her family’s destruction.
