His eyes locked on hers, unblinking, daring her to test him.
Rohan circled her like a man admiring a painting, his polished shoes clicking against the marble floor with every step. His eyes didn’t leave her—not once. Abigail stood frozen a few steps away, her head bowed, hands knotted in front of her, like she wanted to melt into the floor. The rest of the workers were still, shadows holding their breath.
"You wear that smile well.." Rohan said, his voice calm, even amused. "But I see it, I see behind it. You can’t hide from me, girl. You never could." He leaned closer, whispering the last part like a secret only the two of them shared.
