I turned my head just in time to see Robbie, still in his reddish-brown wolf form, slam the golden rogue wolf onto its back with a snarl that echoed through the clearing. His claws pinned her down mercilessly as she thrashed. Then, with one final growl, he sank his teeth deep into her throat—right at the front where the windpipe met the artery. She jerked. Twitched. Then went still. I should've felt victorious. But instead—

"I don't want to be like my dad, reduced to nothing more than a rural alpha for some werewolves in the forest. I want to be more than that." It was Robin who replied him this time. She shifted her chair back with a creak and stood up too, then faced Aidan. "Do you know how many wolves have died in this town and beyond ever since we went for that battle?
