"Do it." I dived. One shot. Precise. The slug shattered the rudder control mechanism at the stern of the ship. The flagship groaned, its propellers spinning uselessly. It began to drift, turning in a slow, helpless circle. The other destroyers were dead in the water, their electronics fried. The fleet was paralyzed. "Attention, harbor," I broadcast on all channels. "This is Queen Marigold. Your ships are disabled. Your weapons are junk. Your Captain is a coward."

My toes had gone numb hours ago inside my leather boots, but I stayed as still as stone in my corner, my arms wrapped tightly around my chest. The upper deck enforcers hadn't come back down to take more men. With the fog so thick, the captain had likely ordered the fleet to drop speed to avoid running aground on the jagged granite reefs scattered throughout the outer channel.
