He’s a scourge!” Adam looked at him and said, “Rory’s first personality would never do anything to harm Mable.” He also did not understand why Rory’s alter ego was so cruel and heartless and why he was so possessive over Mable. Paul snorted. “Whether it’s the primary personality or the alter ego, they’re both him. Don’t use the alter ego as an excuse to defend him!” Adam knew that Paul was right and felt helpless inside. “Rorr has already decided to work with the Monafett royal family. He’s willing to do anything to get rid of X. I can’t stop him. The only way now is to wake up his primary personality as soon as possible.”

I hated bullying and Slade could sometimes lose his whole personality over it. “I see you’ve slept in your clothes again,” Rick said to a boy as he pushed him up against the lockers. I could see that he had potential as a fighter, but he probably didn’t train enough. He was a wolf as was Rick and his friends, the difference being that Rick was part of a pack and the boy wasn’t. We walked closer to them and one boy glanced in our direction and whispered something to Rick. “Let him go,” Slade said. “Or what? You’ll make me?” Rick asked.

“Why are you always fucking flinching away from me at the slightest contact? Do I scare you? Do you think I’d harm you?” “What? No. N-no, of course not, I just…” I trailed off, unable to even complete my statement. I would never think he would harm me. Right from the moment he saved me from that thug in the alleyway, he had always been keeping me safe and protected. But the other question. Does Rodri scare me? Yes. To me, every man is the same. Selfish, greedy and are only nice if they have something to gain from you. But I couldn’t even place Rodri in any of those categories. He was something foreign and different, and it scared me that I couldn’t handle it.

Brody and Cadoc are cousins, and that’s pretty much all they have in common. Brody oozes. Smarm. Entitlement. Human hair product. He won’t make eye contact with a scavenger. If he absolutely must, he’ll address the spot directly above your head. Cadoc, on the other hand, exudes. Confidence. Innate authority. Strength, command, intelligence. Superiority.

The way he had spoken, like he knew exactly which words would get under my skin. I should have seen it. I should have recognized the setup for what it was. Roderick didn’t want a real fight. He didn’t care about winning or losing in that moment. He just wanted a reaction. He wanted me to lose control in his territory, in front of his people. And I had given it to him because I couldn't stand to see what he'd let Olah do to Rain. A humorless huff left me at the realization. For someone I had known for so long, I still underestimated how far he was willing to go.

I ask playfully. He shoots me a sideways glance. “Guess you’ll have to wait and see, princess.” A smirk tugs at his lips. I’m starting to learn that there are a few different versions of Brock. There’s this one- my personal favorite. The one that’s sarcastic and snarky. The one who likes to play and laugh. Then there’s the broody guy that shuts down. The intense one. The one who is so crippled by his past that he can’t move into the future. And then there’s the one that’s completely devoid of emotion, like a goddamn robot. All business all the time. That last one scares me a little. He’s hard and ruthless- I feel like he could watch the life drain from someone’s eyes without flinching.

Rodrick hadn't seen it come to fruition until Rimidal had decided to take his life and turn him into one of his fledglings. Rodrick was his first fledgling. The first that Rimidal ever changed or revealed his true self to. Everything he knew, he learned from Rimidal. The only thing that he didn't get from him was how to live as a nobleman and be a gentleman. Those things had already been ingrained in Rodrick before he was turned. The difference between them besides their power was the fact that Rodrick was not nearly as vicious as Rimidal. He wasn't sure if it was from everything he had endured, but Rodrick couldn't bring himself to cause as much suffering as Rimidal did.

“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to…..” “You're right,” I shook my head. “It's not like I'm anything special that he'd look for me,” I chuckled bitterly. “You are special,” Rodolfo countered, rolling his lip ring into his lips. I laughed and shook my head. Contrary to our first few interactions, Rodolfo was actually a sweet, highly misunderstood person. “It's okay,” I poured myself a cup of coffee. “And you're right, I should get a life and the first step is getting a place of my own,” I shrugged.

"He's always been trouble. In high school, he was our biggest rival. He didn't just want to win. He wanted to crush us, and he didn't care who got hurt in the process. He was out for blood." "He'll do anything to come out on top," Drake said, crossing his arm as he resumed pacing. "He doesn't care about the rules or who he steps on." I sat beside Kha, still trying to make sense of it. "But that was high school. People change, right? Maybe he's different now." Kha shook his head, his eyes going red. "Conrad Ford doesn't change. He's manipulative, relentless, and the fact that he showed up here out of nowhere is no coincidence."

There's nothing back darkness out there anyway, the city practically dead in these parts. Kadrick frowns. "What's there to think about?" "I'm just trying to figure him out, is all," I sigh. He strides toward me, arms crossed over his chest. Sometimes an entirely different persona overtakes Kadrick whenever Isaiah is mentioned. He stands taller, straightens his shoulders and acts defensively at every opportunity. "He's a selfish, arrogant Alpha who only cares for himself and his wretched family," Kadrick reminds me, tilting his head in a way that dares me to say otherwise.
