Before I could react, the man lunged, claws extended and gleamed with the sickly green of memory poison. I twisted away, but in doing so, my concentration faltered. The field of balanced perception wavered, and several of the rogues who had been on the verge of clearing their minds fell back into their manipulated rage. The attacking rogue pressed his advantage, driving me back down the hallway, away from the staircase and the main battle. Cut off from the others, I was forced to defend myself physically, my silver knife, a poor match for werewolf claws and strength. "You were supposed to be captured, not killed," the rogue snarled, his voice oddly mechanical. "But plans change."

Maverick stiffens beside me, his eyes flashing with something I can’t name right now. Ahead of us, branches snap and something massive shifts in the shadows. I catch a glimpse of its eyes, unnatural, red and burning. It’s not a normal werewolf, but a rogue. And it's not a random rogue. Nyx pushes against my skin, desperate to break free. ‘A rogue. Kill him.’ The rogue snarls, his shoulders bulging as he steps into view. His eyes linger on me for a heartbeat, then move back to the ground. I push forward, ready to shift, but in a flash, the rogue lunges away. The trees shake as he crashes through them, gone before I can rip free my claws.

They deserve to be tortured, but they're lucky enough that I'm in a hurry or they'll die an excruciating death. I casually walked towards the man in front of me- the one who was watching me being captured by those rogues from the start. He seemed to be having a great time watching me turn those werewolves into ashes but I'm curious why there's something within me that's stopping me from killing him even though I know what kind of creature he is. He's one of them- a rogue.

It might not be necessary to shift, and it will be much easier to fight if I’m not wearing a dress. As soon as I’m dressed, I step outside and immediately hear a snarl. I turn to the left and there is a brown rogue wolf stalking towards me. You can always identify the rogues because they look mangey and deranged, like a dog who’s been abused and beaten. His fur is filthy, with a few patches missing, and he smells like vulture vomit. The combination of death and decay mixed with the burning, acidic scent of vomit is the worst possible combination.

An underground devil man wearing a bronze mask had revealed his true form at this moment. After a pale green light flashed, he suddenly turned into a bronze spider as big as an island. He opened his mouth and could swallow a city. The bronze covering the spider's body was engraved with an ancient runes, making it even more ferocious. "Die!" Caspian spat out one word coldly and then punched down. Peng! The giant bronze spider was immediately smashed. Behind Caspian, a zombie king crossed its arms and tore it apart with bloodshot eyes. In the torn void, a big hand full of eyeballs stabbed into the back of Caspian.

I flinched at that, but I regained my strength and courage so soon and I opened my thighs again, expecting the Alpha to see the star sign clearly painted on it. “I knew this earlier…” the rogue said, adding a chuckle to his words. “Hahaha! This woman is empowered, Alpha Thane!” He turned to the Alpha immediately and bowed, dropping his sword down flat to the ground. Alpha Thane frowned his face and placed his hands on the rogue's neck, twisting it rigidly. “You're too weak to be hired!” Alpha Thane uttered, as his fingers began to grow spikes that the rogue started bleeding. “I have no more need of you…”

She raised a claw to finish it off when another rogue jumped at her, knocking her off the wolf. Nora whimpered, falling to a side, leaving her ribs bruised and bleeding. Of course, rogues travelled in twos. The new rogue crouched beside the fallen rogue, sniffing it and checking if it was still alive. Nora saw her blood on a couple of fallen leaves and growled, charging at the newcomer. She gave it no breathing space as she took it down, swiping at its neck with renewed energy and anger. When it tried to howl for help, she ripped out its vocal cord and the rogue went still. Returning to the initial one, it was barely alive and struggling to get away.

The rogue Alpha struggled to his feet, coughing up dark blood as he shifted back into the battered body of a scarred man in his late forties. He leaned against the broken tree, clutching his chest. But instead of begging for mercy… He smiled. A horrifying, bloodstained grin spread across his face as he looked past me toward the unconscious young man lying behind me. “Matthew Arizmendi…” the rogue leader wheezed, his voice dripping with cruel amusement. “The great and arrogant King of New York. You think you’ve won? You think you’re protecting your territory?” I didn’t answer. I stepped closer.

"Surely... there is an error? My alpha protector is a peaceful leader." The rogue sneers, pulling a thick roll of heavy tactical tape from his belt. Before Jone can weave another sentence, the rogue slaps the adhesive over Jone's mouth, cutting off his ability to manipulate the conversation. "Let us begin the chronicle," the rogue whispers crazily, hoisting a graphic pack record photo showing a mutilated wolf corpse. "Let us discuss the rogue commander whose limbs Michael Jackson personally severed and left for the crows." Jone stares at the image through narrowed eyes, his inner wolf completely unmoved by the blood. If that rogue had threatened the Silverclaw borders, Jone only regrets that

The rogue reeled, its hold slipping, Sarah’s leg coming free, her cries bouncing loud and broken. “Get out of there, Rodney!” Steve snarled, his voice tight and frustrated, as more rogues swarmed in, their talons gleaming, snarls building, the vibe thick with threat, every second dragging like forever. Rodney reared back for the finishing blow, his face locked in focus, when another rogue exploded from the gloom, eyes raging, maw gaping. We didn’t have a chance to react before it pounced on Rodney, dragging him into the abyss, his howls echoing brutal and fading as he vanished into the black.
