Love in Flames: It All Goes Up in Smoke

Love in Flames: It All Goes Up in Smoke

The night I find out I'm pregnant, my family's villa suddenly goes up in flames. I endure the suffocating smoke and run the risk of being disfigured as I run to my son's bedroom. However, it's empty. Just then, I hear his excited exclamations outside the window. "Monica, you look so cool when putting out fires! I bet you'll get first place in this upcoming Firefighter Challenge!" I'm about to head downstairs to lecture him when a wall collapses and crushes me. As I drift in and out of consciousness, I hear my stern, stoic husband praise Monica Sloan for her courage. If I'm guessing correctly, my husband and son have started this fire to please her. I stare at the door, which is so close and yet so far. I send out one final text before dying of asphyxiation.

You're Dead to Me

You're Dead to Me

On the day we were supposed to register our marriage, my boyfriend said he was busy and bailed on me again. When I got home, however, I found his marriage certificate with his assistant on my desk—the registration date was today. I smiled, placed the certificate on my desk, and decisively ended things with him. The next moment, his call came through. His tone was impatient as he grumbled, "Penny, what's with the drama? You're an adult; stop playing these games." Just as I was about to respond, I heard his assistant sobbing on the other end. "Eric, did Penny misunderstand us? You should go home; I'll be fine by myself." "Don't worry about her," he said soothingly. "She's always pulling this nonsense—it's exhausting. Right now, you're what matters most." Hearing his reassuring words to her, I hung up and completely gave up on him.

Notre alliance n'a qu'un but : venger Lucien.

The Weight of Broken Promises

The Weight of Broken Promises

Seven years into their marriage, Bella got hit with a truth—Steven had a kid. A six-year-old. She crouched behind the preschool slide, barely breathing, as Steven bent down to scoop the boy up. "Daddy, you haven't come to see me in forever." "Be good, Ollie. Work's been crazy. Listen to your mom, alright?" Bella froze. Same face. Same eyes. It was obvious. Everything about them screamed it—The man who swore he'd love her forever had been cheating on her this whole time. Steven and Bella weren't just a couple. They were childhood sweethearts. She once took a knife for him. Nearly died. Lost their baby. Lost the chance to ever have one again. Steven had held her hand back then, eyes red, saying, "I don't care if we never have kids. I already suspected that Ethan has a terminal illness! Though this is only a fictional storyline, but in reality, first, there are still a lot of ways for a remedy to an illness even cancer especially nowadays with so much advance technology in finding a cure

I enjoyed this story the most of the shorts I’ve read over the past few days. It had a great ending, not like the trashy endings of others. It made you torn, wondering who you’re rooting for, Ethan or Seth. It was very touching, one that will stay with you for a while. Reading it again is a must!

My Husband's Office Affair

My Husband's Office Affair

An older woman had wormed her way into my husband's life. A new hire in the company, she catered to his every need, from preparing his meals to washing his personal items. I had warned him repeatedly about the inappropriate nature of their relationship, but he dismissed my concerns. "Claudia's son is in college," Bryce had scoffed. "What could I possibly want with her?" Fine. I had a plan. I served him divorce papers and began showering attention on a young college student. His reaction was explosive. In response, I threw him a puzzled look. "Leon's father is about your age. What could I possibly want with him?"
