Then he snapped his fingers sharply.
“Fiam!”
In one swift motion, he brought his hidden hand forward.
A bunch of fresh red roses appeared in his hand as if from nowhere. The petals were bright, their fragrance immediate, filling the space between them with a soft, sweet scent.
Charlotte gasped, her hand flying to her mouth.
For a moment, she simply stared at the flowers, her eyes wide in disbelief.
Her gaze returned to the roses, and this time, a real smile broke across her face.
Caleb stepped closer and extended the flowers toward her with both hands, his voice soft, steady, sincere. “Charlie, this is for you. I want you to know… whatever happens, I’ll always be here for you.”
