I told them to meet me at the trailhead a mile down the road. I walked out into the crisp, post-storm air, not looking back once. The forest was vibrant, the leaves dripping with rainwater, but all I could feel was the hollow, aching silence where my future used to be. The Awakening Adrian’s POV I woke up to the smell of cold ashes and the absence of heat. Usually, I woke up with my mind already racing—stock prices, merger hurdles, the next move in the game. Crawling up onto the bed, I place myself in the Humble position, only instead of stretching my arms out in front of me, I reach behind and spread myself, and then I wait. A U T H O R N O T E I wanted to address the few comments I've received from people frustrated with me only posting a chapter at a time. When Rude Awakenings was signed three months ago, I had just given birth to my third child. I vastly underestimated how popular it would be, and thought I would have a lot more time to write a sequel. Seeing the overwhelming response for Book Two, I made the decision to post my chapters as I write them. Believe me when I say I completely understand how frustrating it is to wait for a chapter, especially when you are so engrossed in a story, but I wanted you all to know that every piece of spare time I have, is spent writing
