Justin pushed aside the rubble with force, trying to get in even though the room was out of shape. "Karina!" he shouted. Justin didn't hear any answer. Then his feet moved towards one room, which seemed to be occupied by Karina. Upon entering, the room was empty, and Justin was somewhat relieved. "Karina!" Justin kept screaming and brushing the rubble away, hoping Karina was still alive and well, even though there was only a twenty percent chance. "Justin, I knew you were coming," this voice echoed through the rubble. Justin knew very well who the owner of this voice was, Ruin the three-headed demon.

The glass fortress of Vane Global had just cracked wide open. And we were falling through the ruins.

The ruins of the Black Throne Hall stood as a stark testament to all that had been lost—and all that had been reclaimed. Rubble crunched beneath Serena’s boots as she walked forward, the once-glorious obsidian pillars now cracked and crumbled, half-eaten by flames and magic. A bitter wind howled through the broken arches above, carrying the scent of scorched stone and blood. And there, at the base of the shattered dais, knelt Varyn.

Truth I got it now, why Ruined always had a grin on his face every time I saw him. Three weeks I had woken up with Cali wrapped around my body every morning. Or found her in the kitchen, brewing coffee with her hair sticking up in every direction. A thoroughly fucked look making her face look serene. So yeah, I got it. ,

The ruins were dead quiet. Too quiet. My boots crunched on broken glass as I moved through what used to be a strip of shops, rifle steady, eyes scanning every shadow. Command swore one of them had been seen here. A monster. Another purple fucker that slipped through the Rift and made our world hell.

All bullshit. I was bored out of my mind this afternoon. So I snuck into the garage, grabbed a hammer, and smashed the windshield of Gideon’s stupid black SUV. Then I keyed deep scratches all over Silas’s sports car too. I recorded the whole thing live on my secret backup account for my followers. “Watch me destroy my stepbrothers’ toys because they think they can ground me,” I laughed into the camera, flipping my hair. Thousands watched in real time. Comments poured in. I felt powerful. Fuck their rules. After that, I strutted back inside like nothing happened and went straight to my room. I slammed the door and flopped on the bed, scrolling through the likes. Let them deal with it.

My eyes widened in panic, and I stared down at the broken tray, too concerned to even look at the person I had collided with. Weird, I know. But the second rule given to me was to never break anything, and now that I have, I didn’t need anyone to inform me that I have lost my job. With a very devastated heart, I crouched down gently, ready to pick the broken glasses, but a hand shot forward, grabbing my wrist before I could touch the fragmented pieces. “Don’t, Noria. They are going to hurt you.” The familiar voice echoed in my ear, and when my breath hitched, only then did I take in the cologne.

It was ruin. CRASH!

I clenched my jaw, keeping one eye on Damian who’d curled up into a ball on the rough ground, the shards of glass from the window glimmering in the low light, while simultaneously risking a glance up at the window. Thankfully Rune had disappeared, likely going to find the rope I’d asked for, even if I wasn’t entirely sure whether we’d need it at this point. Concern for Rune was at the forefront of my mind as I kept watch over the male, and it was only exacerbated a few minutes later as she came hesitantly creeping forward from around the front of the house. The moon had overtaken the sun in the sky by this point, and there weren’t any other sources of light on this side of the house, save th
