His dark hair was loose, snow clinging, amber eyes sharp, scanning the walls, the runes, the arch. His claw mark tattoo pulsed red, a vow to Sam, her safety his pulse—scout, protect, survive. The ravine’s hum gnawed, doubt fading, her fire his anchor. Shade, his wolf, snarled, gravelly, his black-and-red form prowling, eyes narrowed. She’s fire, pup. Ravine’s death—guard her, kill!
