My mom replied fast: [@LindaKnowsBest!!! You're literally my savior. Spill???] Bruce and I stared at the screen. After what felt like forever, [LindaKnowsBest] finally replied. This time, just one line: [DM'd you.] Bruce dragged a hand through his hair. "Oh my God. DMs? Are they allergic to public comments?" I sighed. "Forget it. One mess at a time." After nine that night, my mom texted me.

Of course he didn't mean it. Ruby sighed, Wyatt had to be stopped. The worst decision the city was going to make was voting Wyatt into power. It was a decision that they were going to regret for many years. The driver pulled up at the West Bridge restaurant. She paid him and thanked him. Her mother was in front of her TV, watching the news with unmatched seriousness. "Hi mommy," Ruby smiled tiredly. She had wiped off her tears before she got to her mother’s restaurant. She didn’t want her mother to see her cry.

It was rude to eavesdrop, but I couldn’t help myself. Ruby’s mom was telling her how much she loved her. She told her she was going to make a scrapbook filled with all the memories of her dad and include some of them as a family. I walked away as the lights went out. Then took a slow walk home. I couldn’t shake the heavy feeling I felt in my heart for my Little Ruby Red and how it must suck so badly to go through all of that at six years of age.

“You’d think Ryder would too. But he doesn’t.” Mum sighed, locking her phone and settling back against the seat. “Because Riley and Ryder… are very different.” “No shit,” I muttered. She gave me a look before continuing. “Riley takes after her mother. Very emotional. She sees the world in black and white. Or maybe green because they are both bitter witches. Ryder, on the other hand… he’s learned to adapt.” I frowned. “What does that mean?” Mum hesitated, then exhaled. “Their mother wasn’t… the easiest person to live with.”

He cooed up at me and stared liked I was his world when really he was ours. Everyone fell in love with Mason and even took turns watching him while I trained. Motherhood is difficult but rewarding everytime I think I can't do it anymore little Mason looks up at me with eyes full of love. Ryker is the best mate and father that I have ever seen when it comes to Mason and I. Ruby had her little girl Emily a few days after I had Mason and even though they are babies they have been attached. We all suspect that they could be mates or grow up to be best friends. I hope they are mates it would make everything so perfect but one could only dream right?

Chapter 72: Something Big Arthur’s P.O.V As I watched my mother and Savannah's mother walk out of the main entrance, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was off. I hurried to catch up with them, leaving my documents at the main desk. “Hey, what are you two doing here?” I asked, trying to keep my voice casual. My mother gave me a warm smile. “Oh, Arthur, we just wanted to thank the woman who saved Hayley. It was such a brave thing to do, and we thought she deserved to hear our gratitude in person.”

That night, Mom came into my bedroom, which was a rare occurrence. "I heard that you're going to the Sacred Spring with Alpha Ryan tomorrow?" She scrutinized me, sizing me up as if I were insignificant. "Alice, I'm warning you. Don't play any tricks. If you dare do anything that harms my status—" I cut her off. "Like using my own life to save Alpha Ryan?" Mom froze for a moment, then let out a mocking laugh. "With your abilities? Don't flatter yourself. What Ryan needs is a powerful mate, not a broken burden."

ETHAN POV Rage and sadness course through my veins as I watch my mate scramble to her feet to defend my mother. She looks so petrified and small. It makes me want to skin Bryan alive. I should have known she wouldn't be able to handle us entering the room looking like cold-blooded killers. She is just getting out of an abusive relationship with a werewolf—a werewolf whose blood we are wearing. "Calm down, Honey. These are my mates...they wish me no harm," mom says as if she is speaking to a new born colt.

I never noticed it until she said something. “ No, it isn’t. I feel like we let Lexi down. I mean how busy were we that we didn’t notice our mate was overloaded. Or were just too blind to see it.” Ryan asked. “ I don’t know man. I know we all have been busy. You running your pack. Me learning to take over and getting my mom to work on Lexi’s Luna ceremony. We both train with our warriors. But we devote ourselves to Lexi when we are together. So I don’t understand why we missed it.” I said. “ Stop making this situation all about you.” My mom said. When did she get back here? I look over and see not only my mom but Isabelle, Melissa, Raylynn, and Freya etoo.

It's a nice change of pace from the constant activity that comes with being a part of a large pack. We settle at the dinner table along with Hiro, Rowan, Winnie, and Rory. Rory is a happy little girl, if I had to guess she's 2 or 3. Winnie interacts with her a lot and just from the limited interaction I've seen, it's obvious she's a good mom. She's trying hard to work through the pain and grief that she's experiencing. I look towards Bryce and ask, "Do we know when your parents will be visiting?" A fork drops and Rowan's voice is hard as he asks, "What?"
