I scrambled to my feet, my body screaming in protest, and I shifted back to human. The pain was blinding. Every bone in my body ached, every muscle screamed, and I could feel the blood still flowing from the wounds on my face and side. But I ignored it all. I reached for the desk, yanked open the drawer, and grabbed the gun. I spun around, aimed, and fired. The silver bullet struck the Beta in the chest, and he howled, a sound of pure agony that seemed to shake the walls. His wolf form flickered, struggling to hold itself together, and then he collapsed, his body shifting back to human as he hit the floor.

After ensuring Valeria was dead, she made her way to Julian. He was unconscious, and the poison had spread throughout his torso.
