My heart hammered in my chest, my throat tight, but I knew the next words I spoke would change everything. The sound of laughter broke through my dazed thoughts, dragging me out of my trance. My heart stuttered, and an overwhelming sense of embarrassment flooded me. The entire church was looking at me, their smiles sharp and piercing, and I felt as though every inch of me was exposed. I wanted nothing more than to sink into the ground and disappear.

I exhale, the tension in my shoulders easing just a fraction. Oh my God, I mutter to myself. “I need a godmother fairy. Someone to just wave a wand and erase this whole thing from our memories.” Maybe I could get through this without having to face him. Maybe... just maybe, the awkwardness will fade. But for now, I remain buried under the duvet, praying for the embarrassment to stop haunting me. But it might not. I'm dead. I cry out.

Maeve's pov Kayla’s gang erupted in laughter, their voices were loud and sharp cutting through the air like knives. I could feel every pair of eyes on me, some wide with shock, others looking at me like I was a clown. All I felt was embarrassment .My hair was a mess, heavy and dripping. I desperately clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms to keep the tears from falling Ava was yelling now. Her voice rose above the laughter. “What the hell, Kayla? Are you serious? What’s wrong with you?”

Everyone I cared about, everyone that tried to help me, ended up paying the price. A sob escaped my lips, and before i could even try to stop myself, i was already crying like a fucking idiot. What could possibly top this level of embarrassment. Kai watched me in confusion, not knowing exactly what was going on with me. “why are you over….” He started but paused. “I didn’t really mean what I said” he said underneath his breath.

“So if I had died, that would’ve been the conclusion? That I couldn’t handle it and just… ended things?” She dragged both hands up to her face, covering it completely as if she could hide from the sheer absurdity of it. Her shoulders shook slightly, not from sadness, but from what sounded like pure embarrassment. “This is so embarrassing,” she groaned behind her palms. “I can’t believe this is what you all came up with.” “You should’ve explained better in your letter then,” Caden said, leaning back slightly, though his eyes stayed fixed on her. She dropped her hands, staring at him like he’d just said something completely ridiculous.

She asked, and I’m not sure if it’s because of her facial expression but I could have sworn I heard a heart pounding in fear. “Take a seat. There’s nothing wrong.” I rose to my feet, shut the door and took a seat next to her. I asked her again, “What’s bothering you? You seem so drained all the time, is the work load too heavy? Is there something I can do to help?” A single rolled down her cheek and her head was faced down, she quickly wiped her tears and responded, “It’s so silly, I feel so embarrassed. I’m sorry.” I reached for the box of tissue and handed it over to her, “There’s nothing to be embarrassed about and to feel sorry for, dear.”

But, my laughter must have sounded bitter because at that moment I felt a little embarrassed with Luke. "What made you laugh like that?" Ah, he seemed to hear the bitterness. I scratched my head a little, which wasn't itchy. "Honestly, I'm a bit embarrassed." "Embarrassed?" Luke looked surprised. I nodded and shook my head lightly. "Um, not only embarrassed but also guilty." "Ah, and what else is it?" Luke looked even more astonished. In that instant, I felt reluctant. "Should we talk about this?" "Hey! Rebecca couldn't help herself, she felt so embarrassed, the only person she trusted, the only person she thought she could count on was the same person to disgrace her in front of everyone. She had been disgraced before, she had gone through something like that before but she never felt bad about it, disgrace was like her second name but she felt really bad because someone had been there to witness it, she felt terrible, she thought of leaving the hotel immediately, she doesn't want to spend another minute at the hotel, she wanted to just run away but she couldn't run now, she went to bed with tears in her eyes, she was sure her face would be swollen by morning, but she wasn't even a make

Madison scolded. Moran and Val shifted uncomfortably. “Could we keep them on? This is embarrassing and it helps that you can’t see our faces.” Moran requested. “I suppose. It can be hard to deal with embarrassment. Just this once.” She allowed. Madison watched them carefully. “Why is everyone acting all stiff? I jumped a bit onto my seat after realizing what did I had just said when I saw her face in confusion. “I m-mean, I like you, of course! It’s b-because you’re my classmate and you’re h-harmeless. That's w-what I was trying to say,” I stuttered, biting my lip because of the sudden embarrassment I felt. What the hell was that harmless I was talking about? The awkwardness lost instantly when I saw her smiled again, barely a sign that she didn’t make it as a big deal. That’s a relief. My mouth was constantly making mistakes and this is not good!
