I flutter my eyes towards my belly and caress it with my bloody palm. Is there a life growing in me? A child. A baby. But I don't feel anything. Not joy, not hatred. The feeling is neutral. Should I be happy? I look at Isaac's face as he opens the door to the room where I have been spending time for I don't know how many days. I lost the date since….. I don't remember. Most of my time goes on sleeping or getting these weird thoughts of killing myself, to stop my breathing and get freed from this place and him.

Dragon agrees happily. I know that I made the right choice in picking him to help. He’s one of the Confradia’s deadliest assassin, and I know he has my back. We talk for a moment longer before we disconnect. However, now I’m worried about Sage and how she’s feeling about this whole situation. Before I know it, I’m in front of a mid-rise building located in Midtown Manhattan. I never meant to park and get out of my vehicle. Elena smiled, tears streaming. “It’s over.” I kissed her forehead. “We’re free.” Mamá’s voice was soft. “My babies.” Alexander’s lips brushed Elena’s. “Forever.” Lila’s smile was small but real. “Family.” But the subway grate hissed. A single red thread drifted out. It landed in the ash. And wrote, in my handwriting: VOLUME VI: THE LAST CODE. My chest burned. I looked down. A red vein pulsed beneath my skin, right over my heart.

The healer's eyes grew softer as he saw Mara, her face still bearing the subtle traces of her spirit, her body now completely lost to life's natural processes. With a long, perceptive gaze that seemed to convey more than words could, Sage looked at Rolan.

Sage winked, kissing me before they linked arms with Evalyn. With that, Sage’s eyes went purple, and the room fell into a thick darkness that no one could see. I heard some shouts of surprise erupting around the room. I closed my eyes and focused on Sage. I couldn’t see them, but I could feel them, and through our bond, I knew their every movement. I knew when they reached Joar because the darkness faded.

For Saga, waking up early on Tuesday is not how you start your day. He hated Tuesdays. Usually people have a strange hatred for Mondays but no, not him. Saga believes that everything bad always happen in Tuesday, like how on the third grade he fell in front of Leah, the class sweetheart -that he used to have a crush on and lose his teeth, not one, but two. And how he lost his bicycle because he need to pee so bad so he just drop it on the side of the road and run behind the tree to do the business. Or when he got arrested because a police officer caught him holding a joint while driving. In his defense, it wasn't his and it was a rent car. He lied of course.

This enters the realm of sacrilege no wolf should survive committing. The final thread connecting us severs just as internal barriers fall, warriors clearing a path to the central chamber where monitors indicate life signs matching Sage's unique pattern. Bond-silence crashes through me like a physical blow, our precious connection, the bond that drew me out of a black, empty existence into a life of love, joy and purpose, suddenly, catastrophically absent.
