Chapter 4 ** Harper’s POV ** “Open your eyes,” Sage says so softly that I only just hear her. My eyelids flutter open, and I have a moment of panic as I adjust to my new vision. I can still see Demi’s light and the tendrils that reach out to her bonds, but my vision is not as it once was. I can see Demi’s shape clearly, she is a white glow in a dark world. The ball of energy swirls in her centre.

Saga stumbled towards me and I picked her up just before she tripped over her own feet. “Daddy,” she said and took my hand. “Kiran,” Adara said and I looked down. There were green flames dancing between my hand and Saga’s. I looked down at them in wonder, this feeling was magnificent, the power that ran through me. I looked at Adara as Saga took my face in both her little hands and it went through me with a force. I was covered in blue flames and the memories spilled into my mind like a train rushing through it, emotions, history, pain, regret, love, hatred, everything coming back to me at once.

If he was successful, maybe, just maybe, they would let her go, and the two of them could live out their final days here in peace. Deep down, he knew it was a lost cause. His family’s mortality was at stake, after all. They would, he knew, go after Scarlet with everything they had. After tonight, after his deadline was up, they would hunt her down and kill her. I do not feel plagiarized or anything. I shook my head, trying to drive out unimportant thoughts. I tried to be more realistic. “Are you a magician?” Saga laughter bursts out. His body bent as if someone was out of breath. “What are you thinking about?” Saga said, still amused. “You look like you've never see—”

Instantly, his head felt a subtle sting when it accepted an overload of memories where he tried hard to forget about. Noel's eyes twitched, hiding his pain. "Please elaborate for me to understand." Madam Ruzka heed her Emperor’s command. "Do you remember the time when you see a figure of a person engulfed in shiny golden light? That was your Sol, your other half." His mouth agape, a flabbergasted expression formed on his ethereal face. "…Impossible.” He paused for a moment when another prickly sensation stung his consciousness. “My Sol just died awhile back, how can it reincarnate in a short matter of time?"

the voice had now taken an agonizing tone. "Leave me alone!" Scott said, flinching from the migraine. His head was now throbbing as if someone was playing drums in it. "You can not run from your destiny." The voice said and Scott felt dizzy before he blacked out.

Give us the Heart, or be erased. "I’m not erasing anything!" I screamed back, stepping forward. I felt the heat of Dante’s power at my back, a protective wall of flame, but I knew I had to do this alone. "You were the ones who made the pact! You were the ones who decided that the Shadows needed a Scribe to keep the world in balance!" The spirit hissed, her translucent hand reaching out. She touched my forehead, and the world dissolved. I wasn't in the cabin anymore. I was in a void of pure white, surrounded by scrolls that stretched into infinity. The spirit stood before me, her form now solid. She wore the same style of Vance robes I’d seen in old portraits.

He nodded to the men, and they dumped Lila in the chair, began securing her wrists with zip ties. "No. No, please—" "Every time you defy me," Richard said conversationally, "someone you love suffers. Last night, it was your father's company. Today, it is your sister." He pulled out a syringe, held it up to the light. "This is a very interesting drug, Aria. It does not kill. It just makes you wish you were dead. Twelve hours of absolute agony. Hallucinations. Seizures. Screaming." "You are insane."

Szane screamed angrily. Jax grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the building. Everybody left us. My sight was getting blurry but I fought hard not to give in. I tried to get up and sit beside Vivienne. I could hear Vivienne was sobbing while trying hard to get off me. Her face was all wet with tears. I took off her gag and hugged her. “Are you okay?” “You, idiot! I should be asking you that!” Vivienne cried even more. I chuckled and caressed her face. I haven’t untied her yet when I felt like darkness was starting to consume me.
