“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” I force myself to shake my head, heat creeping up my cheeks. “No, I just…” I stammer, suddenly forgetting how words work. “What do you mean, ask Santa? Who is Santa?” He chuckles, the sound deep “Santa,” he says, his grin widening, “is an Alpha who can get you anything you want. You know… just like this dress you’re wearing.”

And then his lips tugged slightly as he whispered. “You. Santa gave me a Jasmine for Christmas.” Jasmine's heart raced, she could feel her heart doing an awkward somersault. She looked at Chad again making sure this was real and she hadn't misheard him. He had a mischievous smile on his face.

One year later. The house was filled with the soft glow of Christmas lights, their gentle hues dancing across the living room. I do have a large family though, and it would be difficult for everyone to come over. It’s better to forget it. I’ll tell my family that I won’t be going back for Christmas this year. You know that brings bad luck into the new year, right?” I scoff. I don’t believe in that shit, just as I don’t believe in whatever celebrations the whole of New York is obsessed over. The decorations, the traditions, the superstitions…I believe in none of it, and my dad knows that. I also don’t have the best relationship with him, but we try. Moaning comes through the TV, and I roll my eyes, walking further into the house. Of course, Orison has something romantic playing on the screen because it’s freaking Christmas.
