PROTECTED BY THE DEVIL
I grabbed some coffee, trying to push the early morning thoughts out of my head, when someone stopped in front of my table.
I looked up to see a man standing there, watching me seriously. He wore a well-cut dark gray suit, a white shirt, and a black tie. His face was hard, marked by deep lines.
"Rocco?" he said.
"That's me. Who are you?"
"I'm Domenico. Don Alessandro sent me to reinforce Diana's security."
I looked him up and down, recognizing the name. Domenico was a capo who usually operated in Palermo, collecting tributes for the family. Since we'd never been formally introduced, I didn't recognize him at first.
