Scarlett POV The six of us, myself, Cayden, Bree, Jacob, Tasha and Channing are heading back to the packhouse when I realize there’s someone I should talk to before I start making calls, so I start veering to the left, heading to the area of our pack lands where individual homes stand for those people who don’t want to live in the pack house. “Alpha Scarlett? Trying not to dwell on that, she surveyed the ship in a limited way, keeping her head down when she caught anyone looking. The gaps in the wooden planks had been filled using tarred wool, which ensured the vessel was watertight. It had a pungent, smoky smell, and her nostrils caught the scents of dirt, grass and animal hair as well as the fresher, breeze-borne aromas. It was a wonder no-one had said it was unlucky to have her aboard, a lone female. That probably wasn’t the case when there were more slaves. How would they carry them all? Maybe larger ships were used at such times.
