KIMBERLY’S POV Panic filled me and I couldn’t feel straight. I didn’t understand why I felt so scared for Ari. If Angel died, I doubted the people would let him go even though he did it with pure intentions. I stood up and locked the door. “Don’t make a noise okay? We’re going to wake Angel and we don’t need noise. Can you do that?” I asked them and they nodded. Angel had always been a weak girl from the time I knew her, she was always on her own going gently and looking frail so I could understand that her body probably couldn’t handle the poison and its consequences.

The Shadows whispered. "Drake?" Angel said, fear engulfing her voice. "What is going on? What are these creatures?!" She stammered, her voice trembling as tears welled up in her eyes. I felt the knot in my stomach constrict, as a sense of dread and helplessness washed over me. Frozen in time, I knew the reality was stark and brutal. I was about to witness the love of my life being taken from this world, and I was powerless to stop it.

She blinked couple of times, breathing heavily when she finally saw his ice blue eyes. It was cold and terrifying. "Did your parents not tell you that staring at someone is rude?" "Where am I? What have you done to my friends?" Her voice shaky as she stands up, bravely facing him. "Did you kill them? Why have you taken me?"

I’m scared…” Those words—the kind that haunt a man forever. “I’m scared of what you’ve become,” Angel continued between sobs. “Or have you always been like this?”

Xavier stared at Chiara as she slept. She looked so peaceful and harmless as she slept, he never would have guessed she was a psychopath. The corners of her lips were curved in a smile and she looked angelic. The cold expression that was usually on her face was replaced with a happy expression.

“Alright, I'm done playing games. Tell me where your little brother is, or I'll turn this birthday party into a crime scene.” I bit my tongue, refusing to give in to his demands. This only seemed to irritate Angel further. Stroking his chin, he said, “Now, let's see… who should I start with?” Before I could process his words, Angel zipped out of sight, darting up the stairs with the speed of a squirrel on caffeine. Suddenly, Jaja's screams pierced the air, making my blood run cold. Within moments, Angel reappeared, Jaja in tow, his face transformed into its vampiric form. His fangs hovered dangerously close to her neck, like a chef with a knife poised over a particularly juicy steak.
