A scream of horror, a blood-curdling howl cut the darkness, and Scarlett's blood ran cold. Sage and Scarlett exchanged a stunned look, then Sage transformed into a monstrous, gray wolf and took off for the cry. Scarlett stood stock-still for a moment before she transformed into her own tawny wolf and set off after him. The howls still ripped the air, warning all. Scarlett couldn't help but have an ominous feeling of dread settle over her. Soon enough, they were running through the forest. The branches slapped Scarlett's face and arms as she ran.

He should know better than this, but then again neither of us were thinking clearly after reading that letter. “There’s something about this wolf. It smells like a rogue but I don’t sense any danger. I actually smell…” He stuck his nose in the air again and sniffed a couple of times, “I smell fear.” Just then a small grey wolf came out from the tree line. It was a she-wolf and she was definitely scared. Question is of what? “Alpha, it’s a she-wolf. She’s scared of something. Can you send the men to go up and down stream to look for a way to cross safely?” I mind linked him.

His forearms are the size of her head. He laughs, “I can see you’re scared by the look in your eye, but I can reassure you that I will take it easy on you. By the time I’m done with you, you’ll be able to take me down.” She smiles, but then everything around her starts to fade and finds herself somehow trapped in her mind. Her wolf tells her, “I like him.” She laughs, “He's scary!” her wolf surprises her, “Scary is safe.” She laughs, “ What about your mate?”

The only wolf that big was Hector's wolf, yet this wolf appeared from nowhere. Kayla's wolf was insanely strong but something about the other Wolf was suspicious. It could do more than be a wolf, it could fly above you, it could go invisible and attack from anywhere but her wolf was smart. She ended the fight in seconds, following the paw prints it made and waiting for the perfect moment to attack. When she found that moment, she pounced on the other wolf and bit its throat, clenching her sharp teeth so hard. She didn't leave the wolf until Hector started to howl and Nova appeared out of thin air.

But suddenly, another wolf leapt over Scar and landed right beside Lacey. She immediately recognized the markings. "Don't do this!" Lacey yelled within her mind, but the other wolf couldn't hear, for they were no longer members of the same pack.
