Just in case any of Silas' men was out there in disguise, they won't be spotted in the major roads. Damian, Freya and Scarlett set off to town. Damian drove the car. Scarlett smartly sat in the passenger seat. Halfway into their drive, a truck appeared from nowhere behind them. “I didn't think trucks like this still exist in this pack,” Freya said, glancing at her side mirror. The truck had teeth made of irons sticking out from the front of the car. Damian chuckled. “Probably used for farming or stuff.” “Guys…this is weird,” alerted Scarlett looking through the back of the car. “Why’s the car following us? It's coming faster now…”

The engine roared back to life. “Oh, and Ghost? ”Shade said as he stepped into the cab. “Next time we meet… don’t bring a gun you’re not ready to use.” The truck peeled away, spraying gravel into the air. Riven didn’t move. Couldn’t. He stayed kneeling with Luca’s body against his chest, shaking, swallowing panic. Luca whimpered softly—barely conscious. Riven held him tighter. “Hold on,” he whispered against Luca’s hair. “Don’t you dare leave me.”

“Hang on. I see lights on the road, so that should be them.” The lights came closer and pulled into the driveway behind them. As soon as the truck stopped, the creature ran up the patrol car windshield, slid down the back window, and jumped off the trunk, disappearing into the dark. For a brief moment, they lost track of where it was until they saw it land on the truck behind them. “You have told your people what this thing is like, haven’t you? If you haven’t, this could wind up looking like the three stooges,” Big Bob said as he watched in the rearview mirror.

The car had driven into the headquarters, however, it didn’t stop. It was driving past the tall scary building to the back of the headquarters. “Where are you taking us!?” Her head flipped to the Cop who was driving, fright consuming her. “Damnit! You guys aren’t going to execute us on the spot, are you?” Maya shouted. “Believe me, my ghost will come back, and I’ll hunt down your entire generation!” The Cops looked at each other, their laughter shaking the car. “Oooo, we’re so afraid. Scary ghost lady, can you spare one of us so you can have more generations to kill?”
