Scorpion tattoos emblazoned on their wrists flashed in my face.
I gasped, my hands flying to the wound, warm blood spilling through my fingers.
Another stab. Then another.
The pain was unbearable, a white-hot agony that spread like fire. My knees buckled, but a rough hand gripped my arm, keeping me upright.
I tried to fight back, tried to scream, but my voice failed me.
Just as quickly as they came, they pulled away. The room was spinning around me. My breathing became tremulous.
Slowly, he reached up and pulled off his mask. I blinked through the haze of pain and saw a familiar face bearing down on me. But with the unbearable pain, it was hard to place that face.
