It stumbled back, its form flickering as if it were struggling to maintain its shape.
"Quinton!" Fiona shouted, her voice filled with urgency. "Now!"
I didn't need to be told twice. With a final burst of strength, I launched myself at the creature, my claws tearing through its chest. It let out one last, ear-splitting roar before collapsing into a pile of ash at our feet.
Panting, I turned to Fiona, who was breathing just as heavily. "Are you okay?" I asked, moving toward her.
She nodded, but I could see the exhaustion in her eyes. "Yeah. But this isn't over, is it?"
