Scarlett (Second Edition)
Keith couldn’t hear me.
The rider turned his gaze toward me, his eyes dark and unyielding. “Why did you let this happen, Scarlett?” he asked, his voice both familiar and foreign, filled with a haunting reproach. “I warned you—beware the darkness. Do not let it consume you.” His words seemed to echo in my mind, casting an unsettling spell over my thoughts. How did he know my name? And why did his words feel like they held some impossible truth?
I stared at him, my mind racing, and slowly, the pieces fell into place. I looked into the rider’s eyes and felt a deep, bone-chilling horror creep over me. This wasn’t some distant enemy, some faceless monster.
