You’ll unleash horrors.” Nyra placed a steadying hand on Selene’s wrist. “Better horrors we control than Selira’s tyranny.” Ryker unfolded the tassel of his cloak. “Then open the book... let us see our future.” Kaelan knelt and traced a rune in the dust. “I will bind the worst if it breaks loose. Be ready.” With resolute calm, Nyra lifted the lid. The demon‑hide cover hissed as though alive. She inhaled the scent of brimstone and old parchment, and dared to whisper the first word of unlocking:

Tresicta came at her from the side scythe making contact with her cheek, but before she could just breeze past, she collided into her arm and she brought the powerful woman onto her back once again. It was a circle, and inside was what looked like petals of a flower, alternating scarlet and blue. In its center was another circle, with a crude drawing of a face. It was one of the most unusual drawings Caitlin had ever seen, looking like something out a surrealist painting. As Caitlin looked closely she recognized the symbol—and as she did, aghast, her breath caught in her throat, her hands shaking.
