I speed up and the sounds of my hand working between my legs carry through the phone speaker and he’s listening, he’s sitting in his study listening to the acoustic evidence of what his voice is doing to my body from a different room, and the knowledge that he can HEAR how wet I am through a phone is making me wetter. “You’re close. I can hear it – your breathing is breaking apart and you’re making that sound you make right before you lose control, the one that sits in the back of your throat like you’re trying to swallow it. Don’t swallow it. Let me hear it. But now I need you to stop.”

She hesitated, her eyes wide as if she could see the sounds if she concentrated hard enough. This time, the sound did repeat and take shape. As it collided on the edge of her hearing over and over, it grew closer, louder. She recognized the sound of rocks grating against each other. The cadence of the sound was so familiar, the rhythm made with slow footsteps, approaching. Someone was walking through the landscaping rocks lining the perimeter of her new house, just above the window well that loomed beside her.

I couldn't see nor hear any sound of anything. Something made a cracking sound all of a sudden, I'm sure I heard that. I turned to see if I could see what was there, but I saw nothing still. I couldn't go any further, as I had to return to the entrance, searched for the switch because I knew switches are mostly placed by the door side. My hands trailed on the wall, yet, nothing. Not even one switch. Suddenly, a shrieking sound blasted in the room, breaking the hot and dead silence. I shrieked, held my head, feeling like something was coming upon my head in a fast motion as the sound came from above me.

My heart starts to beat faster and I don't dare to breathe while I have put all my focus on listening for the sound. Minutes go by before I hear it again and this time closer than before!

My head is hurting, and the longer the sound reverberated around me, the more I felt pain in mamy parts of my body. The sound continued, when I felt cold liquid spill out of my ears. I touched it, bringing it to my eyes to see a smal amount of blood caused by the high-frequency sound. Curling myself into a ball, I cover my ears and clenched my eyes, praying for it to be all over. By the time I thought the sound would never stop, silence engulfed the air. What in the moon goddess' name was that? Nothing happened in the next few minutes as I shrunk to the floor, praying.

MEANDRA I heard a sound. My eyebrows furrowed, and my fingers twitched. I felt uncomfortable, but I stayed in place, trying to relax my brows and the tension I felt. Suddenly, a piercing scream pierced through the silence. My eyes flew open, heart pounding against my ribs. For a moment, I laid frozen, my fingers clutched at the thin sheet as my mind scrambled to process what I'd just heard. It wasn’t a dream. It was real.

I tried shaking my head sideways but stopped when I came to realize that even a slight movement would cause me to crash down from where I was lying. Then I heard a sudden thud and the sound of moving feet. After a few countable steps, it came to a halt. I tried to refine my listening skills, but I couldn’t hear a single voice or sound after a few minutes. After what seemed like an eternity, I could finally hear whispering. Then there was a sudden roar of an engine, and something moved. I could feel the movement, which made me believe I was lying down in the car seat and was being driven somewhere.

He says flipping his eyes here and there. As Christopher stops speaking, I hear the sound reaching to my ears again. Wait! I have heard it before. It's somewhat similar to...similar to the wail of a little puppy. My eyes instantly dart towards the opposite side of the road from where it looks like the cry is coming from.

He had very keen senses! When he suddenly heard an insignificant muffled sound coming from Autumn’s body, he immediately felt that something was not right. That sound sounded like a taut elastic band, suddenly snapping and breaking apart. However, since the sound was emitted from within Autumn’s clothes, when it sounded, it was at a volume that basically could not be detected by others. Despite that, thanks to Charlie’s acute sense of hearing, that sound sounded just like an elastic band had snapped directly in front of his eyes.

The pain in my hand has settled into a deep, dull roar, like a train moving through a tunnel. I blink, trying to clear the fog from my brain. I feel weak. Hollowed out. And then I hear it. 'Scritch.' The sound is tiny. Soft. Like dry leaves blowing across pavement. I freeze. My breath locks in my throat. 'Scritch. Scratch.'
